The Unified Socialists have entrusted the Central Secretariat with the responsibility of finalizing the decision to unite the party with the Maoist Center.

The decision to unify with the Maoists could not be finalized after a dozen leaders including respected leader Jhalanath Khanal, Vice President Ghanendra Basnet, General Secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal, Deputy General Secretary Bijay Poudel, and leader Ram Kumari Jhankri expressed their disagreement in the Central Committee meeting.

‘The Secretariat will decide on unification with the Maoists. The Central Committee did not finalize this,’ General Secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal said, ‘We will put our disagreement in the Secretariat meeting.’

After the meeting, Vice President and Spokesperson Prakash Jwala claimed that it was a policy decision to unify with the Maoists and other parties. ‘The Nepal Communist Party has taken a policy decision to unify the party with political parties including the Maoist Center. The Secretariat has been given authority to decide how to proceed with the entire unification process,’ he said, ‘We have unanimously decided to unify the party.’

He said that Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal’s political report was also unanimously passed after various debates.
