Actor Rajesh Hamal opened up about his life, experiences and cinema in Pokhara on Wednesday. Hamal opened up to journalist Apil Tripathi about many things from his past during the final session of the Fineprint Fever Ghumti Literary Festival organized by Fineprint Books and Random Readers Society.
The conversation between them was based on 'From Era to Era'. The book is written by encompassing various aspects of Rajesh Hamal's life, cinema and life.
In the session, Rajesh depicted his personal life as well as the political situation. He mentioned that even if he is not interested in politics, politics interests everyone. 'Politics is such a complex subject. Even if you are not interested in politics, politics interests you,' he said.
Hamal said that society is in confusion after those who have been in politics for a lifetime could not do it. 'A person who took his first step thinking that he would enter politics for a lifetime. He entered politics to serve the society.' He said, 'That is why society is in confusion and there is a discussion in society about whether it would be better if this person enters politics or if a person who has led this field enters politics.'
Actor Hamal said that since politics is the backbone of the country, no person can escape the political circle. He said, ‘Why should everyone be interested in politics, even if it is their own field, when politics is truly the backbone of the nation.’
Hamal mentioned that people involved in every field will make their own contribution to the society. He said, ‘People involved in every field bear their own responsibility to the society. People who are immersed in politics. They try to address the society from their own professional perspective.’
Actor Hamal said that the book is purely about life and experiences. ‘This book is about my biography and my life experiences. We have tried to write it exactly, with absolute truth, without exaggeration, without flowery words,’ he said. Hamal mentioned that the sensitivity of the people who were connected to him during his life was taken into consideration.
Actor Hamal said that he was involved in films with a completely personal mindset. ‘When I started films, my family did not support me. I entered the film industry due to my personal desire,' he said, 'I did not get to tell my family about the success of the film.'
In the dialogue, actor Hamal also hinted at entering politics in the future. Will you enter politics? When asked, Rajesh said, 'I cannot give you a concrete decision. I do not have a political background. I do not have any organization. I have not led any organization. I am not in any position or in the process of being expelled.'
He added, 'I am a very independent person and am leading a profession. But whoever is interested in politics, let his society go in the right direction.'
