Maoist leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha has made public his view that there should be no hasty unification with the Unified Socialist Party.

Shrestha made this statement public at a time when preparations are being made for unity between the Maoists and the Unified Socialists, among other parties.

Shrestha says that the unity of the Maoists and the Unified Socialists should be the starting point for the party reorganization and transformation campaign.

'The party unification process of our party, the CPN (Maoist Center) and the CPN (Unified Socialists), should also be viewed from this angle. Our party has decided to take the initiative to unify the party with the CPN (Unified Socialists),' Shrestha said, 'But this unification process should be able to play the role of the starting point for the transformation and reorganization campaign of the entire communist movement, and it should be ensured that the parties concerned join the unification process collectively, not in a divided manner. Let us strive patiently for that. Let us be aware that neither overall unity nor meaningful reorganization should be achieved in a hurry.'

Shrestha also said that ideological and cultural transformation, unification and reorganization among the communist parties of Nepal are the need of the day. He also mentioned that the parties should take the initiative for that.

'Only if the unification process can be carried forward as a unification with transformation and reorganization as demanded by the entire communist movement, it will be justified and have positive results,' Shrestha believes.
