UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has revealed that his mobile phone was seized while he was under the protection of the Nepali Army after he resigned during the Gen-G movement.

He said that he got the mobile phone only after Sushila Karki was sworn in as the Prime Minister. In an interview with the editors on Sunday, Oli said, "I was under the protection of the army after I resigned. My mobile phone was also seized. Later, I got the mobile phone only after the Prime Minister was sworn in."

In a different context, Chairman Oli said that there was no shortage of leadership within the UML and that there were many aspirants within the party. He claimed that he saw a need in the party and that age did not stop him. "In America, there are 80-year-old people in leadership. From the Prime Minister of India and Russian President Vladimir Putin to Chinese President Xi Jinping, age has not stopped them," Oli said.

He accused Maoist coordinator Prachanda of telling a terrible lie a few days ago. "When the President said that it would be difficult to make a prime minister without the recommendation of the Prime Minister, I accepted that. I made that recommendation in a complicated situation," Oli said in a clarification.

He added, 'Since it is necessary to control the current uncomfortable and extraordinary situation and return it peacefully, I wrote that I would recommend that the President take necessary steps to find a solution within the democratic system.'

Oli said that Sushila Karki's name was not mentioned anywhere in the letter he wrote and that he wrote the letter in the presence of the Chief of Army Staff and that he did not have a copy of it.

He said that he did not insist that the Prime Minister could not be elected from outside the Parliament, but that it could be done from a meeting of the Parliament itself. He said that it could be done by briefly sitting in the Parliament on the 25th. He recalled that such a thing could be done by amending an article in Article 76 of the Constitution.

Questioning why there was hostility towards the Parliament by not appointing a Prime Minister from within the Constitution, he accused Gen-G of doing such a thing. 'This government was formed through unconstitutional means despite being constitutional. The question remains how this government was formed and who formed it,' Oli said.

He also recalled the time when he dissolved the parliament twice, admitting that he had dissolved the parliament as per the constitution after failing to form a two-thirds majority government. He said it was surprising that those who were not ready for the elections at that time argued that elections should be held now.
