UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that he will not step down from the post of chairman. Responding to the central committee meeting, he said that he will not step down because of the responsibility on his shoulders.
‘Some friends are asking for my resignation, I am not asking for it, they asked me on the microphone, I have been carrying a small piece of the movement for 55 years, I have a responsibility on my shoulders, I will not leave it without fulfilling it,’ he said, ‘We will discuss my resignation at the general convention, we will seek a decision from the representatives. Let’s not embitter the party, let’s go with friendship.’
He said that the party will not run under pressure. ‘It runs with policy, it runs with method. It runs with general policy, the party does not run by force, the party runs collectively, sometimes it does not run as he says,’ he said, ‘My friends said that I am patient. I am also patient, I am the president.’
He said that although preparations were made to arrest him, he backed down because no weakness was found. ‘The Home Minister consulted and discussed how to detain KP Oli, but nothing was found,’ he added, ‘Yesterday, the gen-jis refused to agree, the government is constantly trying to detain KP Oli no matter what.’
He claimed that there would be no election on the scheduled date. ‘There are 4 months left, there will be no election, we will not go to an election that will not happen.’ Their goal is not the election. To stop my passport, to limit my location?’, he asked, ‘Will I not be able to go to see the burnt house? Will he become the Prime Minister on the ashes of our property?’
He claimed that the current change is not positive. ‘This is not a revolutionary change. There should be no doubt about it. The party is not in favor of it,’ he said.
