A group including Buddha Air owner Birendra Bahadur Basnet has formed a new party. The 'Gatisheel Loktantrik Party' has been formed under the leadership of Dinesh Prasai.
They reached the Election Commission and submitted an application for party registration on Thursday. Basnet had been discussing forming a party for 5-6 months. Basnet's homework intensified after the election was announced on 21 Falgun amid the new situation.
The party is preparing to have a chairman and 5 general secretaries. The rest will be members. Arrangements are being made so that office bearers cannot contest the election. That is why Basnet is not sitting in the leadership.
