Congress spokesperson Prakasharan Mahat has said that the campaign should be stopped immediately as the special convention will further weaken the party.

He expressed concern over the growing dissatisfaction and factional activities within the party and said that the Central Working Committee meeting to be held now will find solutions to such problems.

Calling a meeting of central members in Kathmandu Valley, he said that after Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba's recovery, he is ready to convene a central committee meeting as soon as possible. Earlier, he also discussed with former officials of Nepal Vidyarthi Sangh, intellectuals close to Congress and leaders of various levels.

After General Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa and another General Minister Vishwa Prakash Sharma launched a signature campaign for the special convention, the leaders of Chairman Deuba's side are on defense. At the

meeting, Mahat held the opinion that the party should be oriented towards discipline, unity and cooperation. 'The democratic movement will be strengthened only if the party is made strong from the center to the villages. Group activities and unsatisfactory signature campaign weaken the party, it should be discouraged,' he says.
