Maoist President Pushpa Kamal Dahal has instructed the lower committee to prepare for the elections. After President Ramchandra Paudel announced the election on February 21 on the recommendation of the government, the Maoists gave instructions to start election preparations.
Although he has not formally decided to go to the elections, President Dahal has instructed the in-charges and provincial presidents of all the seven provinces to prepare for the elections. "When the election has been announced, there is no option to go to the election," Dahal instructed, "Now let's mobilize the organization to focus on the election."
He says that the political changes brought by the Zen-G movement should be prepared for the election. The Maoists say that elections are the only option to overcome the political crisis caused by the Congress-UML coalition government while strengthening the organization by adapting to the changing situation. He said that the Constitution and the Federal Democratic Republic can be protected only by making the elections successful and he has started his homework for the election preparations.
The meeting of the party central officials will take a formal decision about going to the elections. Secretary Devendra Poudel said, "When the election has already been announced, preparations have to be started."
Although the eight parties demanded the restoration of the dissolved parliament, the Maoists have made an unofficial conclusion that there is no option to go to the elections. Senior Vice President Narayankaji Shrestha, Deputy General Secretary Varshman Pun, Janardhan Sharma, Secretary Ram Karki have said that they will help the election government. But they have asked the interim government to create an environment for elections.
Maoists have suspended the mid-hill highway campaign after the Gen-Ji uprising. Leaders including President Dahal have been active in daily political activities.
