17 ruling and opposition student organizations have jointly protested the government's ban on the operation of unlisted social networks.
The decision of the government has narrowed the freedom of expression and access to information, and student organizations such as Nevisangh, Aneraswaviyu, Akhil Krantikari are of the opinion. The student organization has issued a joint statement which has seriously affected the study, research and exploration of students.
According to the government's decision on August 19, 26 social networks, including Facebook and Instagram, which are not listed in Nepal, have been closed. They say that since these networks are connected with the daily life of Amnepali students and citizens, they have drawn serious attention to the government's decision. In the
statement, the government's decision to close the social network has been requested to be reviewed and re-operation has been demanded immediately. "The closure of social networks has hindered easy communication." Which has seriously affected the study, research and exploration of students by narrowing the freedom of expression and access to information. There is a serious danger of losing their jobs and their businesses collapsing. Therefore, we demand to review the government's decision to close the social network, to immediately re-operate, to immediately withdraw the policies that pose a threat to freedom of expression, education, employment and economic opportunities and to immediately communicate with students, digital content producers, businessmen and other stakeholders and adopt the above option.'
