Chairman of the Maoist Center and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has claimed that the ruling Congress-UML-led government was formed under the pressure of brokers and middlemen.

Addressing the 10th meeting of the Federation Secretariat and the 8th meeting of the Central Committee on the 'Role of Nepali Industrialists and Businessmen in Socialism-Oriented Economy' organized by the Federation of Nepal Industry and Trade in Pokhara on Saturday, he said, 'The Congress-UML government was not formed by their intelligence, it was formed by the intimidation of brokers and middlemen. Yesterday, it is a government that was built on fear, and today it is still a government that survives on fear.'

He said that honest leaders within Congress-UML should not live in such a government. He claimed that the Maoist center is an alternative force, saying that the crony capitalist trend is holding the country hostage. 'We are representatives of the middle class. Debt relief, cooperative reform and the upliftment of the lower class are our priorities, he said.

He alleges that Congress-UML leaders have created problems in the cooperative sector. 'We tried to create a powerful authority to prosecute thugs. But the government was overthrown, so it could not move forward,' he added.

Mentioning that the contribution of Maoists was decisive in the complex journey of constitution making, he admitted that structural changes have not yet come in the judiciary, executive and legislature. 'The fight for change is still left,' he said. According to him, the cooperation between the Maoist elements has increased recently and the confidence of the people is returning. We are winning even in unexpected places. The people have started to understand that the Maoist center is the power that works in favor of the people,' he said. In the

event, Ramprasad Subedi, an organic farmer of Dang Rapti rural municipality, gave Ghari Dahal a gift of Malbhog bananas produced in his own farm. The

event was attended by Deputy General Secretary of Maoist Center Varshman Pun, Standing Committee member Shashi Shrestha, Federation in-charge Ganga Karki and leaders of Gandaki Province.
