UML senior vice-president Ishwar Pokharel has expressed a different opinion on former president and former vice-president Bidya Devi Bhandari's entry into party politics and the banning of party members.

In the meeting of the central officials on Thursday, he mentioned that it was wrong to stop the membership of Bhandari by keeping a written dissenting opinion. 

"In the beginning of the year 2081, the decision to cancel the membership of the former vice-president/former president Comrade Bidyadevi Bhandari, which was not even included in the agenda of the discussion in the central committee meeting, was announced by the central organization department," he said in a different opinion, "In my opinion, such a decision will promote malaise and arbitrariness within the party." This can also be mentioned as a serious example of political bias.

He has also demanded to correct the decision to stop the membership of Bhandari. "The decision made by former Vice President Bhandari not to be a member of CPN (UML) and not even to be involved in party politics and the matter mentioned in the 'Inter-Party Directive - 12' issued after that is against the Constitution of Nepal, the legal arrangement and the constitution of our party, so I am presenting my opinion before this secretariat meeting organized before the legislative convention," he said. While disagreeing, I request that my different opinion be discussed and the pre-judgment corrected in accordance with the provisions of Article 78 (1) of the party constitution.

He has argued that according to the universal principles and practice of democracy, the constitution of Nepal and the prevailing laws, no restrictions can be placed on the political rights of any citizen. "The constitution of our party and the practice of democratization of party life, which our party has been following for a long time, do not accept such a thing," he argued, "after completing the term of office of the president, as a responsible Nepali citizen, he officially renewed his party membership from the party central office (central organization department) after continuous discussions with other leaders of the party including the chairman of CPN (UML), leaders of various parties, experts/experts in various fields, and ordinary citizens.
