What you should know

For the by-election scheduled for November 17 in Rupandehi-3, small parties are recommending candidates in a hurry. RASWPA on Sunday evening resident of Siddharthnagar municipality-9 neurologist Dr. Lekhjung Thapa has already been announced as a candidate.

As soon as the RSVP decided to conduct the internal candidate selection process for one and a half months, the pressure on other parties to announce their candidates has also increased .

But the big party doesn't give importance to candidate selection . People who have announced their independent candidacy are continuing their door-to-door campaign. RPPA recommended 6 names for candidates a month ago . The meeting of RPP district performance committee recommended the names of central members Vasantavikram Shahi, Swati Thapa, district president Sagarpratap Rana and the sons of current MP Deepak Bohora, Gaurav and Prajwal and Dilip Kumar Mallik. Gaurav, Prajwal and Thapa from the Bohora family are seen as three aspiring candidates.

Gaurav, the eldest son of Deepak Bohora from RPP, has come to the election and is meeting and meeting workers. Bohora's granddaughter Thapa is also making it clear through social media about the development works and services completed in the constituency earlier.

As many people have claimed that there is a risk of discord during the election, RPP President Rajendra Lingden gathered all the aspirants at the party central office a week ago and agreed to help each other no matter who becomes a candidate . In the general election of 2079, Deepak Bohora won from Rupandehi-3 by defeating the then Home Minister and Congress leader Balkrishna Khan. After the death of Bohora, a by-election has been scheduled in this area. RPP has said that a strong candidate will be announced to maintain its legacy.

Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist) has recommended 7 names for candidates on Sunday. In the meeting of the district committee of the party held in Bhairahawa, along with general secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal, Lumbini province vice president Kamal Bhandari, Rupandehi district president Hiradhwaj Shah, provincial members Anandprasad Gupta, Asha Chaudhary, Thaneshwar Khanal and Vijayalakshmi Rai.

The Federal Democratic Front, which held an election meeting with the participation of its top leaders a month ago, is now looking for a candidate. The Morcha had decided to field Dhaniram Choudhary of Civil Immunity Party from Rupandehi-3. However, the Morcha faced difficulties after the Civil Liberties Party did not register its party in the election. After his party was not registered with the Commission, Dhaniram has joined Janmat Party. Public opinion is now preparing to make Dhaniram a candidate for Rupandehi-3.

In the last election, there was an electoral synergy between UML and RPP . UML district secretariat member Sandeep Gupta said that initially four aspirants were seen from the UML, which is preparing to contest the elections alone this time. According to him, Politburo member Khimlal Bhattarai is seen as the main contender this time. Bhattarai has emphasized on meeting workers in the rural areas of the district and participating in every program. Similarly, businessman Shashi Paudel, Lumbini province member Hariprasad Adhikari and Yagyajit Shah are also seen as aspiring candidates. "Even though the candidate has not been decided, the workers have not yet gained enthusiasm," Gupta said, "if the party had decided on the candidate soon, the election atmosphere would have been ready." In the last election, Congress leader Balkrishna Khan became a candidate. With the announcement of the by-election, it was announced that Khan could repeat himself as a candidate. Congress convention representative Mahendra Kumar Shrestha said that since Congress-UML is still assessing each other as competitors, they are working to understand the sentiments of the voters by reaching the field. He said that even though they did not openly protest, the big parties are analyzing the votes received in the last election and getting information about the upcoming strategy through the party structure.

"Leaders are analyzing from where the 14,000 votes other than proportional were received," he said.

Even though there is a delay in finalizing the candidate from the parties, some people who have announced their independent candidacy for Rupandehi-3 have been going door-to-door asking for votes for one and a half months. Santosh Giri, who introduced himself as an aide of Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality Chief Balen Shah, has been busy with door-to-door visits and meetings for two months.
