CPN (Unified Socialist) senior leader Vamdev Gautam has criticized the party's leaders for being Kathmandu-centric.
Senior leader Gautam said this while speaking at a seminar on 'Socialism with Nepali characteristics in today's context' held in Kathmandu. He says that the organization has become weak due to the tendency of all the top leaders of the party to stay only in the capital valley. He emphasized that all the members of the party should be assigned some responsibility.
He termed the leaders who stay in the party and do not follow the policy and principles as 'fake communists'. The member pointed out the need to understand socialism, to take the necessary actions in today's situation for the construction of socialism and to take the responsibility of reaching out to the people. He said that until the top leaders of the party go to the people, there will be no enthusiasm among the workers.
Gautam complained that he was not given responsibility even after two months of joining the party.
He said, 'All the leaders of NECPA (Unified Socialists) are in Kathmandu Valley. After that, there was no question of leaders below. Since this is the case, the party should take those leaders along and decide that each member should bear one or the other responsibility. He must have one or the other field of work, because that is what the doctrine of the Communist Party says. After getting party membership, monthly fee should be paid and he should have a separate field of work so as not to be held responsible. Otherwise they are all fake communists. If responsibility is not assigned, they are fake communists.'
He added, 'The work we do is to explain the theory, to explain socialism, how to build socialism, every person should work and go to the people with the aim of what is necessary to do in today's situation. Policies and principles must be followed. But the leaders of the party are not active in going to the lower level and refuting the ideas of the opponents, inspiring the people there, all the big leaders are in Kathmandu.'
Stating that communist parties cannot run without principles, Gautam said that inter-party struggle is necessary.
