Distortion and inconsistency flourished within political parties: Former President Bhandari

What you should know

Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that distortions and inconsistencies have flourished within the political parties. Addressing a program held in Kathmandu on Thursday, she said that political parties have not been able to solve the distortions in politics.

She said that the government has not been able to promote good governance and that the political parties have not been able to move forward according to the current system. She said that the parliament is now an innocent place. He claimed that there was no careful study on how laws should be made according to time.

Former President Bhandari said, 'Distortion and inconsistency have flourished within the political parties. That too is flourishing. They are not able to solve it. They are not able to promote good governance. Political parties have not been able to know how to go about a system. Even the mechanisms of the state are not being able to operate in the system that should be operated. Now when it comes to parliamentary practice, the parliament itself is sitting as an innocuous place. Not carefully studying how laws should be made up to date.'

She said that even though the major parties have agreed to amend the constitution by raising questions on the current constitution, they have not been able to discuss what is lacking in the constitution and what is needed.

She said, 'Major parties themselves have raised questions on the current constitution and agreed that the constitution should be amended, but still there is no discussion about what is lacking in the constitution and what is needed. A person is accused of something, not confirmed, he cannot speak, he is suspended—is that justice? What kind of democracy is the system of suspending people's representatives because someone has accused them? It is not good to suspend until an allegation is confirmed.'

Former President Bhandari said that education-related problems are a big problem in Nepal.
