CPN (Maoist Centre) MP Shakti Bahadur Basnet accused the ruling parties of moving towards the practice of two-party system.

Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, he argued that the two-party system is inappropriate for Nepal's social, cultural and economic diversity. He mentioned that the two-party experiment will eventually be pushed towards a one-party system and also commented that the Nepali people will not allow the two-party mission of the ruling parties to be fulfilled.

He said, "The ruling parties seem to be walking on the mission of a two-party system". In a multi-class social and economically diverse society like Nepal, this two-party system is neither theoretically correct nor practically appropriate . The mission of this two-party system may eventually reach a one-party system. Among the two major parties, who will get that opportunity, they must be thinking. But the Nepali people will not allow their mission to be completed.'

Basnet drew the attention of the government saying that the attempt to remove Deputy Speaker Indira Rana is not conducive to social justice and inclusion.
