The UML Central Committee decided to stop former President Bidya Devi Bhandari from joining the party. But that decision did not stop Bhandari. Despite the UML's 'ban', Bhandari has become active again.
Bhandari, writing to the former vice president of UML, issued a statement opposing the party's decision at the initial stage. Since then she seems to have been silent for a long time . She came down to Biratnagar again on Monday to convey the message that she has entered politics. Biratnagar is also his political base. That is why she has come down to Biratnagar for the third time in seven months.
On Monday, she participated in the 21st anniversary of 'Udghosh' daily held in Biratnagar. Even outside the formal program, she continued political meetings and dialogues. The management of Bhandari's meeting has been arranged by Vinod Dhakal, a leader of other factions within the UML.
UML central advisory council member Dhakal himself was defeated in the Koshi state chairmanship, although he is not in a leading role, the other side of the establishment has become stronger under his leadership in Biratnagar and other areas.
Bhandari has prepared to meet the central leaders of UML, office-bearers and members of All Nepal Women's Association on the occasion of Tij, according to his close leaders. His program of meeting and political dialogue on the pretext of rates has been fixed on August 6-7. After that, he is scheduled to participate in a meeting with women entrepreneurs in Birganj in the second week of August. He is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on Tuesday afternoon.
Growing dissatisfaction within the UML
The decision to make Bhandari inactive has been questioned within the UML. While the state committee meetings are being held targeting the Legislative Assembly, from Koshi to Bagmati and Karnali, voices are being raised that 'stopping Bhandari is not right'.
At the same time, in the last week of July, there was a commotion and sloganeering in the meeting of Koshi province held in Hille of Dhankuta. State member Roshan Basnet, DB Karki, Anju Pandey, Bhojpur President Makar Khadka and other pro-Bhandari leaders came out strongly demanding to correct point 6 of Inter-Party Directive (APANI). In that point, it is mentioned that 'membership of Bhandari will not be renewed'.
Tired Bhandari
Since last August, Bhandari has come to Biratnagar three times. When she came for the first time on January 14, she stayed for about a week and was busy with the inauguration and foundation laying program. She came for the second time on May 23. She was not confined to Morang at that time; She crossed the Mawa and Kankai rivers and reached Biratmod. This time his face did not look as bright as the previous visit, but instead looked dull and tired.
The suspension of subscription renewals is understood to be the main reason for his fatigue . However, while talking to the media, she clarified that she is still in the role of a worker of UML. 'I belong to CPN UML . I became president because of UML, no one took away my membership,' she said, 'Even when I was president, I was a member for 35 years . Now it has been 45 years.'
Legislative convention of UML will be held from 20th to 22nd of August at Sunrise Assembly Hall in Godavari, Lalitpur . However, Bhandari will not participate in it as the membership is not renewed. Not only him, the permanent committee member Mukund Neupane, who joined the CPN United Socialist Party some time ago, will not be given the right to vote.
However, growing dissatisfaction within the UML, Bhandari's constant meetings and as the upcoming legislative convention approaches, waiting to see how his political future will take a turn has become a matter of general interest.
