Buddha Jayanti was celebrated in beautifully decorated Lumbini on Friday with various programs. The program scheduled for 5 am started at 8:30 am and ended in an hour after it was affected by rain. In a program organized by the Lumbini Development Fund to mark the 2570th Buddha Jayanti, Speaker Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadag Raj Poudel, along with monks, nuns, and devotees from various monasteries in Lumbini, performed worship and meditation at the Mayadevi Temple. On the day of Buddha Jayanti, on the full moon day of Baisakh, Lumbini is filled with domestic and foreign tourists. Worship was performed by Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana sects in the program. Lumbini Province Chief Krishna Bahadur Gharti and United Nations Resident Representative for Nepal Leela Peters Yahia were also present.
