Traffic jams have been ongoing in Daunne on the East-West Highway since Sunday morning as the road is muddy and making it difficult to operate. The jam has occurred as large vehicles could not move uphill due to the mud. Due to which, passengers have had to sit in the jam for hours. The road is sloping in the Daunne section during the expansion of the Butwal-Narayangadh road. Passengers have been facing problems in this section for the past 7 years. According to District Traffic Police Inspector Kushal Bartaula, the highway has been blocked since 7 am due to the mud. He said that one-way traffic is operating after the rain stopped a while ago. Due to the traffic jam, it takes more than 6 hours to cross the 14-kilometer Daunne section. Hundreds of passengers and vehicles traveling on the East-West Highway are stopped at Dumkibas and Bardaghat.
