On Sunday, the eighth day of Pus Shukla Ashtami, the famous white Machhindranath temple in Keltol, Kathmandu, is bathed. The main deity of Machhindranath is taken out of the temple and placed in a double room, and the main priest of the temple, after performing religious rituals to ensure that there are no obstacles, removes the clothes worn on the idol. After that, there is a tradition of bathing with water brought from the holy shrine in Shobha Bhagwati. Before that, the main priest worships the deities of the east-west, north-south, fire, southwest, wind, east, bottom and top, so that there are no obstacles.

मच्छिन्द्रनाथको स्नानको क्रममा जीवित देवी कुमारीलाई बाजागाजा साथ वसन्तपुरको कुमारी घरबाट महास्नान हुने स्थानमा ल्याएर दर्शन गराउने चलन छ । स्नानपछि पुजारीले जीवित देवी कुमारीलाई प्रसाद ग्रहण गर्ने चलन छ ।

मच्छिन्द्रनाथ मूर्तिको स्नानले देशमा अनिष्ठ नहुने, सुख समृद्धि हुने धार्मिक विश्वास छ । सेतो मच्छिन्द्रनाथलाई बौद्ध धर्मावलम्बीहरू आर्यावलोकितेश्वर करुणामय र हिन्दुहरू हरिहरका रूपमा, वैष्णवले नारायणका रूपमा पुज्ने गर्दछन् ।
