Even after a long time has passed since the construction started, the citizens have to suffer because the work of widening the Downne-Butwal road section is not completed. Passengers traveling through the highway are forced to make a difficult journey, while those doing business near the highway are affected by mud in winter and dust and smoke in winter. Not only that, the traffic in highway hotels has reduced drastically. Traders say that more than half of the business has dried up because of the road.
दाउन्ने सडकको छेवैमा होटल चलाएर यात्रुलाई खाना खुवाउँदै आएका पदमबहादुर पोखरेलले विगत पाँच–सात वर्षदेखि धुलो–धुवाँ प्रदूषण झेल्नुपरेको बताए।
'बाटोले गर्दा व्यापार चौपट छ,' होटल व्यवसायी पोखरेलले भने, ‘बाटो समयमै नसकिँदा अहिले यो बाटोमा गाडीहरू चल्नै छाडेका छन्। सुनसान छ। पहिला होटलमा गनिसाध्दै नहुने गरी मान्छे आउँथे। मान्छे अलि कम आइदिए हुन्थ्यो भन्ने लाग्थ्यो। अहिले सडकको पहिलेको तुलनामा केही काम त भएको छ। अहिलेकै गतिमा काम भयो भने त अर्को वर्ष पूरा हुन्छ कि जस्तो लाग्छ।’
व्यवसायी पलायन हुने अवस्था आएको भन्दै उनले छिटोभन्दा छिटो सडक निर्माणको काम सक्नुपर्ने बताए।
निर्माण व्यवसायी महासंघका महासचिव रोशन दाहालले निर्माणको काम भइरहे पनि तीव्र हुन नसक्नुमा व्यवसायीको आ–आफ्नै समस्या रहेको बताए। उनले निर्माणको काम समयमै नहुनुमा राज्य मुख्य दोषी रहेको बताए।
महासचिव दाहालले भने, ‘निर्माण व्यवसायीहरूको आ–आफ्नै समस्या छ। राज्यले गर्नुपर्ने सम्पूर्ण काम नगरिदिँदा व्यवसायी अझ समस्यामा फसेका हुन्। ठाउँ–ठाउँमा सिंहदरबार राज्यले भनिरहेको अवस्थामा, तर उनीहरूले गर्नुपर्ने सेवा र संरचना निर्माण गर्दा होस नपुर्याएका कारण सम्पूर्ण निर्माण कार्य ढिला भएको हो र नागरिकलाई गाह्रो परेको हो।’
उनले निर्माण व्यवसायीका समस्या राज्यले सुनिदिनुपर्ने र निर्माणको काम द्रुत बनाउनु पर्ने बताए ।
