What will the upcoming election be like? Will this election fulfill its historic mission? Looking through the lens of time, this election is not just a simple process of transferring power. This election is essentially an epochal event that establishes the demands, issues, and dignity of the Gen-G movement.

which will once again prove the sovereignty vested in the citizen . It will establish the principle of citizen supremacy . And, it will turn the state upside down . This election is not an ordinary and regular election, it is a watershed that will be recorded in history . Which will divide the thinking, culture and trends of Nepali politics with a boundary line . And, from now on, we will say, ‘2082’ politics of this and that .

Every election is inseparable from its time . Because every election highlights the demands of its time . Awakens the dreams of its time . Brings up the issues of the time for debate and approval . And, chooses a trusted leader (party) to implement them . But the purpose of this election is not only that .

Its main purpose is that this election will change the prevailing trends, feelings and interpretations of traditional elections . If time does not turn back, it is unlikely that republicans will have to vote for monarchists or Congress for communists in this election. This election will change the rationale of the alliance and change the means of propaganda. In particular, this election will determine our future path. And it will talk about missed dreams and issues. This election will probably say goodbye to many leaders from politics. And, many leaders who are seen now will not be seen in the next elections.

Looking back at history, it is seen that every election has its own purpose. The election of BS 2015 established the belief for the first time that the source of governance is not a dynasty or a palace, but public opinion. 'People's rule' and 'democracy' were the main agenda of that election. When the Panchayat came, the main purpose of the subsequent elections for the ruling party was to legitimize the king's rule. And, the rebels wanted to return the sovereign power of the people to the hands of the people.

When the 2046 BS people's movement was successful, the 2048 BS elections were focused on the main agenda of restoring multi-party democracy. And, the main purpose of the subsequent elections was to make the relationship between the state and the citizens more accountable, modern and democratic. As a result, citizens were no longer subjects of the state, but became sovereign owners. After that, fundamental rights, freedom of expression, and political rights became indivisible. Public approval became the main character of our power.

With the 2063 BS people's movement, the issues of prosperity, self-respect, inclusion and good governance came to the center of Nepali politics. In other words, it was not enough for us to just call it a republic. The ownership of the state had to be established primarily by the Madhesi, Janajati, Dalit, women and minority communities. It was necessary to end the historical series of discrimination. Democracy alone was not enough, social justice and inclusion were also necessary. A new definition of ‘nation building’ was sought. A new purpose of ‘state crafting’ was sought. At the same time, the demands for language, culture, identity and self-respect were no longer just demands, they became the main characters of our democracy. The 2072 constitution accepted all these issues. And, we entered the modern democratic era.

result Along with the speed of political change, our dreams also accelerated. But when politics came to collide with the daily lives of people from the field of struggle, then crises appeared in it. Citizens wanted to see democracy in their lives. People wanted to take socialism out of slogans and see it in their homes and kitchens. But our leadership could not connect political agendas with the dreams of the common people. The system got stuck on one side, people got stuck on the other. The parties got confused on one side, the people went the other way. The leaders went one way, the citizens went the other way.

This election should end the vicious cycle of repeatedly bringing the same failed person to power and should refresh politics. This election should restore people's trust in the state. And, basically, it should bring a ray of hope into the lives of the common citizen. In other words, the governance system that political consciousness wanted was nowhere to be seen. On the one hand, people wanted more democracy, on the other hand, democracy was shrinking into party politics. People wanted good governance, but corruption was increasing. People wanted generosity, but narrow-mindedness was on the rise. People wanted prosperity and self-respect, but they were nowhere in the debate. People were tired of the same candidates, the same leaders, and the same promises that were repeated over and over in every election. People were confused by the political vicious cycle of the same leaders coming to power time and time again. And, the middlemen were getting tired. As a result, people's trust in the party was decreasing. People's trust in the state was disappearing. And despair became a part of common life.

This was the explosion of despair, the Gen-G movement. What this means is that the main purpose of this election is the victory of hope over despair. That is, the reorganization of the state, politics, parties, leadership and issues. The farewell of the old generation and the approval of the new generation. That is, this election should be a link to connect the broken relationship between the party and the people. This election should give a new direction to the confused parties and turn them back to the ground. This election should end the vicious cycle of repeatedly bringing the same failed person to power and should refresh politics. This election should restore people's trust in the state. And, basically, we should bring a ray of hope to the lives of the common citizen.

But is the situation like that? Let us think, are the parties and leadership participating in this election embracing the spirit and importance of the Gen-G movement? Or, does this election have the power to confirm its historicity? Will this election not be limited to a traditional political ritual?

Of course, the strongest aspect of this election is the political participation of the new generation. Which can be expected to disrupt many things. While Nepali politics has been dominated by a few limited faces and tendencies for a long time, the intervention of the new generation that has increased with this election can be believed to make many things fresh, effective and timely. It is certain that with this election, the language, style, spirit, face and tendencies of Nepali politics will change.

But looking at the situation, with this election, some such trends seem to be emerging in Nepali politics, which will make politics a spectacle and its dignity will be further weakened. What is doubtful is that after this election, Nepali politics will descend further and it will lose its weight. If the situation remains like this, there will be no competition of political agendas in this election, there will only be emotional slogans, passion and excitement. Because, this is the most apolitical election in our political history. And, it is producing, an apolitical individualism. In fact, the absence of political thought, agenda and responsibility anywhere in this election is its weakest aspect. Which will affect Nepali politics for a long time.

Similarly, another weak aspect of this election is a new version of personality worship. The new politics that has emerged by calling and accusing the old generation as ‘scoundrels, slaves and servants’ has further established those tendencies in this election. And, shamefully, it has lost its dignity. In this election, the new generation is repeating the politics of deification practiced by the old generation in a more modern and comprehensive style. It seems that the new generation is also doomed to become someone’s ‘scoundrel or servant’. In fact, the anti-social use of social media is another weak point of this election. As a result, trolls and abuse are dominating social media, not logic. Facts and evidence are being rejected. And, the new generation is running after someone’s divinity in a more dangerous way than the old one.

Another weakness of this election is that the supporters of the fraud regime are in the field against the corrupt regime. And, unfortunately, the voice of good governance is very weak. On one side, there are those who are making the state hollow with institutional corruption, on the other side, there are self-absorbed dirty faces who say 'I am clean'. Similarly, looking at the way the uproar is going on in the election field, it seems that there is a competition between arrogance and shamelessness in this election. And, responsibility is being crushed by shame. What is more, the arrogance of the old and the shamelessness of the new are polluting this election, where there is no debate about political responsibility.

In this election, a new-faced leadership is present in the field against the traditional leadership. It seems that rumors, gossip and social media trends are selling people's faces. Where political agendas are nowhere. In this election, traditional inertia is competing with new mania. The weakest aspect of this election, individualism and favoritism, are standing in the field, where there is no discussion of agendas and policies. Similarly, in this election, an attempt is being made to polarize between the new and the old. And, the debate on good politics is being discouraged. The question arises, is it possible for the new generation to disrupt politics, without an agenda? Can emotional impulses alone solve the traditional crises of politics, without a plan? Or, is disruption just a matter of age, is disruption of thinking, culture, and tendencies not necessary?

Of course, this election should become a watershed in history, but the political dignity of this election will not be established by making such a fuss. Let's think about it, if the new generation also enjoys the face of a person, his deification, sloganeering, and irresponsibility, how can it seriously interfere in our politics? Yesterday, we questioned politics, parties, and leaders everywhere, will this election find answers to those questions? Or will all of them reappear in a new version? Will this election not just be a cheap spectacle of traditional inertia and favoritism? Let us hope that this election will carry the dignity of our time. And, it will not just be a political spectacle.

The essence of democracy is not just about winning elections, but about making politics, the state and government accountable and responsible to the citizens. It is about strengthening policies, not individuals. And, it is about standing up for the truth. Otherwise, if this election also establishes only noise and confusion, how will it confirm its purpose? And, how will it establish the dignity of the Gen-G movement? May this election prevent politics from becoming a spectacle and restore the agendas of the new era. If that does not happen, our politics will be plunged into confusion and darkness for a few more years. And, after that, we will have no other option but to regret it.
