Questions are already being raised about the lifestyle and wealth of leaders, employees who have/have not held public office. Their source of income should also be investigated and brought under legal action.

While much inquiry is now being made as to who else was behind the Gen-Ji uprising that overthrew power within 24 hours, history will continue to inquire as to what the contributing factors were. But there is no doubt that the main reason is the serial corruption that is happening in collusion between the leaders, the bureaucracy and the middlemen and the anger that it has raised among the common citizens.
The gen-ji that comes to the streets is the generation that has heard, seen and experienced corruption in the country since birth. Therefore, it has become a civilian government after the rebellion, whose main 'mandate' is to hold the election of the House of Representatives and investigate and prosecute the looting, arson that took place under the guise of protests and the extreme repression that took place during the movement.
is equally important but also has another important responsibility – to investigate and take action against past corruption and illegal assets. The government is delaying to take steps in this direction to guarantee the restoration of good governance in the country by making the changes in the foundation of Gen-G rebellion meaningful.
Since the birth of the Gen-G generation, no area is untouched by corruption. In some scandals that could involve the political leadership, the investigation was not started at all. Examples of this range from the corruption of the militant camp linked to Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to the Giribandhu T-Estate scandal involving UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli. Even though some major corruption cases were investigated, cases were not prosecuted against the prime minister and ministers under the guise of 'policy decision'. Even when the parliament tried to enact a law to prevent irregularities in the name of policy decisions, it was stopped due to the leadership of the top leaders of the then ruling Congress-UML.
Despite the public criticism, Nepal Airlines Corporation is an organization that has become a hotbed of corruption. Even before Gen-G was born, there was a Dhamija scandal involving a 40 crore scam in the corporation. Even after the birth of Gen-G, air fare irregularities involving Lauda Air, Chase Air, China Southwest became public. Widebody scandal is the most famous of recent times, in which the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority has concluded that there is about one and a half billion in corruption. The then Prime Ministers Sher Bahadur Deuba, KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal were accused of widebody procurement, but there was no investigation to that level. Due to these and many other irregularities, the 6-and-a-half-decade-old National Flag Corporation is in a long-term debt of about 52 billion rupees.
There are many cases in which leaders and employees have played host to the government land grabbing land mafia. Laws and regulations were also amended to support such business. Even the land near the residence of the Prime Minister, Chief Justice, and Speaker of the House fell under the purview of the land mafia. After it was discovered that the government land of Lalita Niwas located in Baluwatar was irregular, the Authority conducted an investigation, but the case was not prosecuted against the then decision-making authority (Prime Minister) Madhav Kumar Nepal and Baburam Bhattarai.
There is a case in the court against the then Prime Minister of Nepal who decided to immediately sell the land purchased by Patanjali Yogpeeth in Kavre in excess of the limit against the law. Congress leader Prakashman Singh's sister Rita Singh Vaidya Muchhiyo's investigation into land misappropriation of children's kindergarten was delayed for a long time. No further action was taken on the embezzlement of the land belonging to the then Congress MP Vinod Chaudhary's family in Bansbari.
UML leader Vishnu Paudel, Judge Kumar Regmi and others were not prosecuted in the case of Lalita Niwas. Former Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba was also acquitted after returning the land in Tikapur, Kailali land irregularities. Former Minister Balram Adhikari has not been made the primary accused after investigating the case of land grab (birta) in Batulechaur, Pokhara's litchi plantation which was made public last time.
All possible obstacles were created in the investigation of the fake Bhutanese refugee case involving the top leaders of major parties. Amid political interference, a case was filed against former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamazhi, former ministers Ram Bahadur Thapa, Balkrishna Khan, etc., but the other accused were spared, including Arju Rana, a member of the then Prime Minister Oli's secretariat and leader. The name of the then Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar came up in the business of sending young people abroad under the guise of a visit visa, but there was no investigation on him.
He was in the position of Home Minister when he did not resign after criticizing the police repression on Jen-ji. Organized gangs were running the business of illegally transporting gold and no thorough investigation was/was allowed. On 2 July 2080, 61 kg of gold and before that on 10 December 2079, 9 kg of gold that was hidden in Vep were investigated. But its fair and independent investigation continued to be obstructed.
In the meantime, 21 billion rupees were embezzled from the commission formed for tax evasion. An investigation was carried out after the irregularities of a decade ago became public, but the court has not yet ruled it out. A number of incidents have come out in which 'setting' was arranged in every work related to public procurement and losses were caused to the state fund.
The then Home Ministers Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Vamdev Gautam and Bhim Rawal, the then secretaries Umesh Prasad Mainali and Govind Kusum were suspected in the scam in the procurement of 'APC' for the Nepal Police stationed in Darfur, Sudan, and were not pulled into the investigation. There are many other well-known examples including purchase of Teramox and Omni (procurement of health supplies during the Corona epidemic), excise sticker printing irregularities.
There is no doubt that one after the other, major corruption cases have occurred due to the tendency of the political leadership to adjust the 'settings' from the amendment of laws and regulations to the favorable management of employees and to try everything possible to avoid action when the incident becomes public. The investigation and prosecution authority, the Central Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police and other agencies have been put on trial. Therefore, the question is raised about these, 'Are they the bodies that will carry out the action process or are they the ones that are being investigated?'.
Due to the state's tendency to focus on investigating and prosecuting irregularities such as corruption and smuggling, citizens became frustrated and angry, which exploded in the form of the Gen-Ji Rebellion. Even for the sake of honoring Gen-G's sacrifice against corruption, the government should investigate all these cases of state-exploitation without delay, and the relevant agencies should conduct investigations "without hesitation" on those involved.
There have been questions about the lifestyles and wealth of leaders, employees who have/have not held public office. Their source of income should also be investigated and brought under legal action. A fair investigation, prosecution and action on one irregularity will not allow the recurrence of irregularities, the common citizens will ensure good governance, another rebellion situation like Jen-ji will not occur.
