Time to hear a new generation of resolve, not a tired verse

Yesterday's agitations were successful because there was clear guidance and discipline in the voice of the people. Now the street presence of 'Jen G' is not just an expression of discontent, but should be used as an opportunity to revive democracy. A street question is definitely more powerful than a digital wall post.

After the government shut down social media, public concern is returning to the streets. What is remarkable is that this year, "Zen-G" is hitting the road under its own leadership for the first time. Citizens' dissatisfaction, questions and warnings expressed through various means will make democracy lively and mature. Therefore, the questions asked by 'Zen-G' on the streets will make power and power accountable.

The new generation is looking for the 'blueprint' of the future, the political leadership of the old generation is reciting verses of their own struggles. This is not matching. Yes, the Constitution was written by the Constituent Assembly to change the nature of the country, but the nature, style and nature of the leadership is shockingly the same.

The same leader will be the prime minister for five times, he will work day and night to reach the same position for one or two rounds, the same leader will be the minister for 19 times and the situation of the country will remain the same. The tendency to get along with anyone for power and power and to leave the company at any time and to act like an enemy from the moment they left has made politics infamous. Any new generation should imitate the elders. However, if our growing new generation imitates the culture, civilization and discipline of the country's political leadership, what will happen to our future? Speculation is also interesting.

The list of frauds in the name of the country and its people is endless. Nepal ranks 177th in the corruption index, more than 1500 young people are forced to leave the country for foreign employment. The tendency to give public property to people close to them, to make government agencies and institutions a place of loyalists, and to treat those without money or access as non-citizens has become so prevalent that the new generation has only seen darkness in the country. It was necessary to raise voice from the citizen level against the tendency to make democracy and the country hollow by making transparency and good governance only election slogans. Because the previous generation is delaying for that, the new generation is rushing.

Nepali youth anywhere in the country or abroad are asking the question - Why is the country's policy so unstable? Why is the method so harmless? Why is the lifestyle of those in public office opaque? Why are the big faces involved in corruption not being prosecuted? This is not an emotional outburst, but a concern and warning about the future of the country. Even now, if the political leadership does not dare to listen, the 'Gen-G' movement will completely displace the older generation.

Social media itself is not calm, benign, angry or agitated. It is only a field to express the state of mind of the society. Whatever hope or despair, restraint or anger is growing in the society will be revealed on social media. Therefore, social media is not an enemy of power, rather it is an initiative to touch the pulse of society. But the government has left the way of touching the wrist and listening to the voice and has taken the way of suppressing the voice of citizens, that is suicidal for it.

Yes, no person or generation is omniscient. Our society is also 'misinformed' or 'disinformed' in some respects. As a result, the character of a person is assassinated based on content created deliberately, unrelated people are 'trolled', the voice of the victim is lost, and the main planner enjoys sitting in the dark. However, the confusion spread by communication is also through communication. Therefore, no responsible state can envisage a vacuum of dialogue, the field of dialogue should be widened more and more.

Social media is now a powerful way for ordinary citizens to express their voices. According to the authorities, social media is only a platform for entertainment and a place to express frustration. But it is a social lifestyle where a person can tell the world that he cooked when he wanted to cook, stayed hungry when he didn't have food, walked when he wanted to walk, shouted when he wanted to protest, and kept quiet when he wanted to stay silent.

These are the voices of all citizens according to their style, time and nature. Similarly, social media has become not only a political and social debate, but also a bridge for personal and family dialogue. This is also the means by which parents in distant villages can see their children in the country/abroad daily and know their happiness.

is also a social network that has a group or individual opinion on government decisions, public concerns, group or individual issues. It is a digital marketplace that has given everyone from corporate houses to small entrepreneurs an equal opportunity to promote their products and services. In this way, the government has interfered in the daily lives of the citizens by shutting down the network that has become the lifeline of the citizens, so it has been opposed.

The government has closed the social network with the support of the Supreme Court order. However, the reality is that the Supreme Court did not say to close social media, but to regulate it by making laws. But instead of making a law through the parliament, the government has proceeded to lock the mouths of citizens based on administrative decisions. Moreover, 144 orders given by the Supreme Court for civil rights, good governance and service delivery are pending. But the network has been closed overnight by misinterpreting the mandate given by the Supreme Court regarding social media. In this, there is a mistake in the intention of the government.

There is no doubt that social media platforms should operate on the basis of law in Nepal as well as in the rest of the world. However, before it was closed on the basis of non-registration, the government was enjoying consuming public information rather than making laws through the country's parliament, making regulations based on laws, writing to related networks, and taking diplomatic initiatives. This is the 'final deadline', this is the 'really final deadline', now the government has fallen into the 'trap' of its own ego while issuing a deadline decree such as 'the deadline will not be extended'. However, the way out of the 'trap' is self-examination and dialogue. The government should take that path.

History assigns specific responsibilities to each generation. Yesterday's generation fulfilled their responsibilities at the right time and the country has entered from the darkness of Rana rule to democracy and from panchayati kalratri to democracy to republic. However, the present generation has become frustrated due to the successive betrayals expected from the rulers leading the republic.

Yesterday's protests were successful because there was clear guidance and discipline in the voice of the people. Now the street presence of 'Jen G' is not just an expression of discontent, but should be used as an opportunity to revive democracy. A street question is definitely more powerful than a digital wall post. If that powerful determination, responsible voice and disciplined steps can be organized, the future of Nepal's politics will not be determined by the faces of seniors, but by the resolve of the new generation.
