What you should know

Tribhuvan University, which is supposed to be an educational and academic center, has turned into a place of sit-ins, lockouts, vandalism and clashes. The academic session of the university changes, the students change, the academic and administrative leadership changes, but Bahubal has become a force that never changes.

Non-academic activities have become routine in recent times when non-academic activities are not stopped and those involved in them are not brought to justice. Due to the anarchy of the organizations close to them, the political parties are not serious even in the situation where the leadership of the university cannot reach their offices and cannot feel safe. They have not been able to realize that the Trivi is being oppressed. The government is also encouraging educational activities to maintain law and order in the university  There is no concrete initiative to break the story. As a result, strong efforts to improve the environment of the University have not been started. No commitment has been expressed for that. With this trend, the academic future of the students and the dignity of the university is getting weaker year by year.

Student organizations seem to be at the forefront of vandalism and lockouts. In February, a group of students vandalized the office of the Rector and Dean. On May 15, the Congress-affiliated Navy Association vandalized the Vice-Chancellor's office. He was also locked up for 35 days. When Dharmakant Baskota was the Vice-Chancellor, the Naval Association, which had banned entry, had locked it for about 400 days.

Vice-Professor Prem Chaane was attacked and injured by a group in the university premises. On July 26, All-Revolutionaries close to the Maoist center vandalized and damaged the rector and registrar's office. He has been protesting at the Vice-Chancellor's office premises for almost four weeks, demanding a reduction in the fees of the four departments that have been adjusted to the central department.

During the sit-in, they chose the path of anarchy saying that the demand was not heard. Last year, the students of Amalenikat Aneraswiyu started the disruption by protesting at the office door of the then vice chancellor Kesharjung Baral. At that time, Baral was stopped from going to the office due to the dharna for weeks.

It is seen from the references that the student organization is at the forefront of disrupting the academic and administrative environment in the university. What is strange is that the student organizations active in the university do not seem to be trying to improve the academic environment. He never comes into the limelight because he has done academic activities in the university, discussed the theoretical and practical aspects of the curriculum and textbooks. Basically, they are busy beating professors, vandalism, lockouts, threats.

The officials of the university seem to be guided by the absolute notion of what party comes to their recommendation, what to support or oppose. And, they are also prepared for criminal activities. In such a situation, the officials of the university have not been able to sit in their offices and perform their duties. Due to the chaos of various organizations, the previous vice chancellor Kesharjung Baral had to run the university from his own residence, the current vice chancellor Deepak Aryal has also been forced to work from outside the Kirtipur office.

University officials including vice-chancellors are forced to work from outside the office due to the panic of the student body, there can be no expectation of a flourishing academic and academic environment. This sad situation has become a regular activity for Trivika.

Due to chaos and insecurity, the university administration has to demand security from the government. Last year, the then education minister Vidya Bhattarai appealed to the home minister to arrange peace and security in public when the Navy Sangh vandalized. But the demands made by the university administration or the appeal made by the minister have not been able to make the university safe. The main reason for this is political patronage to anarchist students and organizations. It has finally become the protection of the state. Therefore, the state should be serious about the security of the university.

Professors who beat, threaten, vandalize public property should be brought to justice. If it can be established that those involved in illegal activities will automatically face legal action, the lawlessness will automatically end. Similarly, political parties have used student organizations for their own interests and become patrons of their anarchy.

so that the morale of those involved in illegal activities is getting stronger. Political parties must reform their policies and practices. On the other hand, the student organization should be able to creatively advance its demands and the activities adopted to fulfill them. It is also shameful from the point of view of the academic level that the organization representing the university indulges in vandalism and beatings. They dismiss the chaos of their organization as not having a policy of their own.

Only when they begin the practice of assisting those involved in anti-policy activities with expulsion from the organization and legal action will they be trusted. Students themselves should be able to self-evaluate what their main work is, whether the activities they are involved in have contributed to the improvement of their academic and academic abilities.

Students are not the only ones who disrupt the environment of the university. They also play a role due to government policies, appointments, interventions etc. Professors and staff have also been involved in disruptions and lockdowns. For example, the partial professors' association had locked down from May 30 to June 20, saying that they were going to hire professors, associate professors and deputy professors on the fast track. Similarly, last June, the professors of the Institute of Engineering Studies, Pulchok, also started a protest by stopping the lectures.

Under the leadership of the professors' union, they stopped teaching for two weeks. The protest, which claimed that Trivi had taken away its autonomy, was suspended after negotiations and agreement. In this way, due to the non-academic activities of students and professors, the officials including the vice-chancellor are often hindered from reaching the university and working. As a result, the university has become weak.

If it is to be preserved, the state apparatus, political parties, university officials, student organizations, students themselves and concerned bodies must be serious. A strong commitment to reform should be shown.
