The government is currently drafting a law to allow polygamy. In the draft, it is mentioned that the marriage will automatically be legalized if the woman becomes pregnant or gives birth to a child when a married man has another relationship. This provision is against the values of jurisprudence itself.

It has made women only objects of enjoyment. Allowing men to do anything for sexual satisfaction. It has opened the door to make women more victims and men more criminals. 

The proposed draft law is also a dirty joke on marriage. Trying to limit matters of mutual understanding, discipline and responsibility like marriage to sexual lust only. The basis of giving marriage permission to an illicit relationship between a woman and a man on the shoulders of children is wrong.

Such a legal proposal is an insult to common women. Legal protection is a provision to exempt men from committing social crimes. Attempting to legalize polygamy is an audacious attempt to set society back. Which shouldn't happen. 

Let's look at the current legal system. The Constitution of Nepal has given the right to gender equality. Based on this right of equality, the Criminal Code 2074, which came into effect on August 1, 2075, has completely prohibited polygamy. A second marriage is automatically void. Polygamy is not even for women. Men don't either. If you want to get married for the second time, you have to end the first marriage first.

should mean divorce. Based on the right of equality, the Civil Code has made divorce easier for men as well. Now a man can get a divorce regardless of his will, a woman can get a divorce regardless of her will. Both men and women can marry after divorce. If the husband or wife does not like each other after marriage, both men and women should be patient.

The people involved in the amendment of the polygamy law have responded that the law amendment is also necessary for the identification of children. This is simply wrong. The existing Criminal Code has abolished polygamy. However, the identity of the child is not prevented. The children get the identity of the father. have also received It is only women who do not get recognition. Let's be clear, a woman who has a relationship knowing that she has a first wife is just not getting the identity of the second wife. Polygamy is a criminal offence. Even if women who commit crimes go to the streets, even if men go to the streets, they should not be sided with. Such laws should not be made. 

According to existing laws, polygamy is a crime whether it is done by a woman or by a man. Therefore, legal action is taken against both men and women who commit polygamy. Giving equal rights to men and women in marriage, polygamy is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years and a fine of up to 50,000 rupees. Therefore, a woman who has sex with a husband with a wife or tries to become his wife, even if she is a woman, is a criminal.

criminals should be prosecuted, not protected and identified. It is wrong to think that a woman who has a relationship with a man with a wife should not be given the identity of a wife. Trying to change the law with such thinking is a distorted mentality. It is a product of the tradition of seeing women only as consumables. It is to establish the basis that a man can quench his sexual thirst with whomever he wants and marry as much as he wants for his sexual thirst. This should not happen. It distorts not only women, but our society. 

Marriage and sex are complementary to each other. However, marrying only for sex is wrong. It is not a man's obligation for a married man to have a relationship with another woman and even have children to quench his sexual thirst. It is a product of criminal mentality. These should be treated both legally and medically. Recognizing the marriage and keeping them as wives should not be allowed. 

A question arises here. Does the Revised Law on Polygamy allow women to have relations with other men and maintain polygamy so that their husbands do not quench their sexual thirst, just like giving permission for marriage to men who have relations with other women without sexual satisfaction from their wives? If there is such a discount, where will the society go? Equality is equal. It is the same for men and women. Therefore, the polygamy amendment proposal is against the social, cultural and moral foundations of Nepal. It will degrade a person's dignity. Equality, justice and human rights will be flouted.

When polygamy is illegal, they will face problems due to relationships, but what will happen when it is legal? It will be difficult for the sufferer. There will be polygamy in the household. Economically vulnerable women will be the most affected. Family relations will become weak. Mistrust will increase between husband and wife. Mutual conflict will increase. Domestic violence will increase. Mental stress and pain will increase. Children will become more vulnerable. Men will become more and more violent. Women will suffer more and more. 

In general, marriage is not only a legal contract, but also a life-long coordination and partnership. A family with respect, trust and love in a marriage becomes harmonious. A family is made up of men and women. Not all women are good. Not all men are bad. In terms of polygamy, polygamous men are also guilty. Women are also guilty. Anyone who violates the criminal law should be punished. Polygamy law should not be amended in the name of a woman who has a relationship with a married man with a wife to create problems for common women. A marriage can be dissolved if the relationship between husband and wife is not harmonious. It should not be possible to be in a relationship with another person, give birth to a child and get the marriage recognized without divorce.
