BP Koirala said, 'Socialism is a way of life...' It is a simple phrase. But as simple as it is, its definition is complicated. We have to make the 'socialist gorge' carved by BP a 'highway' to make it a part of the common man's way of life. And, to reach its proper destination, it is only possible through democratic socialism.

First of all, socialism is not capitalism. Socialism is not just a political philosophy, it is a human ideal. Where there is human equality socially, economically and culturally, that is what BP calls socialism.

BP has said, "We believe that socialism is the wave of the future.... Today, the center of attraction for socialism has shifted from Europe to the Third World, where socialism has become relevant as an inspiring ideal of life and a model of development." If Nepal has any future then that is the only way to survive. There are two main aspects of socialism – democracy at the political level and the development of justice for the poor people at the economic level. Without these two aspects, to say that poverty will be eradicated and to bring political freedom is equivalent to creating an impossible story. It's not just a question of ideals or a question of believing in the best value of life, it's a question of life and death.

BP envisioned an ideal family, where the hall is the bull, the cow is the cow. Who can send their children to school to get an education. A complete picture of real socialism is the way of life of the family. Today, the way we are imposing socialism, socialism on the new generation, it helps to pile up not only political inertia but only more confusion in these budding minds. So socialism is simply the way of life of the people, the socialism we want is the upgrading of that way of life.

is a theory born by a 'rare' and immortal character of Nepali political history - Socialism. And this 'socialism' is also the lifeblood of the Nepali Congress. Not only this, socialism has become a principle of every political philosophy today, whether it is communist or democratic and whether it is of the center. BP itself is also a reflection of a complete political thought, philosophy and thought. This democratic socialism of BP as the basic ideal of Nepali Congress. It was passed by the party convention in 2012.

After the year 2015, the socialist philosophy was already reflected in some of the policy programs adopted during the short period when the Congress was in power. BP, the first elected Prime Minister of Nepal, was in power for a total of 18 months from May 1, 2016 to December 1, 2017. He tried to move the country on the path of socialism by laying an important foundation for the country in economic, political, diplomatic and other fields. Out of the 68 years of his life, BP spent 13 years in prison in Nepal. Had to spend 4 years in jail in India. BP Koirala, who was born while the exiled Koirala family was in exile, was able to live an open life in the country for 16 years from 2007 to 2017 and 6 years from 2033 to 2039.

Not all people are successful in all places in life. BP was also a human being, not God. Politically, in personal life, people fail somewhere. But that doesn't mean his life is entirely worthless. BP also understood the philosophy of life very well. In literature, he has given the philosophy of life. The image of society is engraved in every letter of literary creation. So BP has survived in many ways.

In Nepal, a large number of young people are migrating abroad due to economic recession and lack of jobs. More than 500,000 Nepali youths go abroad for foreign employment every year. BP's socialist policy emphasizes the creation of employment opportunities at home.

BP Memorial Day is not just a day to remember, it is also an opportunity to reawaken his ideas and principles. His philosophy of democratic socialism, policy of reconciliation and national unity can guide social justice, inclusive development and diplomatic balance in today's Nepal. BP's ideas provide new perspectives and inspiration to address contemporary challenges such as climate change, economic recession, youth migration and the digital divide.

On this Memorial Day, we should imbibe BP's ideals and contribute to building a prosperous, inclusive and united Nepal. By putting his ideas into practice, we can realize the dream of social justice, economic equality and national unity. On the occasion of BP Memorial Day, let us all resolve to imbibe his principles of democratic socialism and move Nepal towards a prosperous and inclusive future.
