The message of open industries and created jobs

What you should know

When the commentary that there is economic laxity in the country, there is no investment environment, and all the young people are going abroad for employment, one/an industrialist opening here will help in creating a positive environment.

In the first 6 months of the financial year 2081/82, 581 small, medium and large industries were registered and 25,637 were employed, according to the semi-annual economic activity study of Rashtra Bank. This number of

industries and jobs cannot fully address our needs and expectations. However, it would go a long way to dismissing the argument that nothing is happening in this country and to fueling despair. Citizens, families, society and the state will get a wide share of benefits.

Therefore, the government's policy should be more motivating and encouraging to investors. From registration to operation should be facilitated. It is the responsibility of the state to create a political, social and economic environment for the registered industries to start operating as soon as possible and to sustain those already operating.

The total capital of 581 registered industries is 1 trillion 29 billion 63 billion. The total fixed capital of the industries is 1 trillion 12 billion 25 billion rupees and the current capital is 17 billion 38 billion rupees. According to the Rashtra Bank report, the total proposed foreign investment in these industries is 35.80 billion rupees. The highest number of 443 industries have been registered in Bagmati province during this period.

Only 25 industries have been registered in Lumbini, 19/19 in Koshi, Madhesh and Gandaki and 6 in Sudurpaschim. No industries have been registered in Karnali. According to the number of industries, the situation of job creation is also the highest in Bagmati with 20 thousand 87 people.

Similarly, 1 thousand 30 people have been employed in Koshi, 1 thousand 540 in Madhesh, 522 in Gandaki, 2 thousand 141 in Lumbini and 315 in Sudurpaschim Province. According to the data, it appears that the proportion of the industry registration is not consistent across provinces. Industrialists can choose the place of industrial registration and operation based on geographical convenience, development infrastructure, easy availability of skilled workers, security, strong possibility of ensuring return on investment.

Attracting industrialists for investment in their respective provinces, announcing various facilities, creating a political-economic environment is the responsibility of the same province. Provinces need to do their homework on this.

Opening up the industry is beneficial for any country in many ways. This leads to the mobilization or utilization of the investor's capital. As production increases with industry, it brings an increase in the gross domestic product of the country. Employment is created with the establishment of industries.

It mainly improves the standard of living of the people. Access to education and health will increase. It reduces the compulsion to go abroad for employment. It avoids the political-social dissatisfaction, idolatry and rebellion that can be expressed when unemployment increases.

In a society where financial gain is assured, creativity and productivity will automatically increase. The state can also collect different types of taxes from the industries. Which increases his spending power. This ultimately increases the access of citizens to social security programs and development. With the increase in exports, imports will be replaced, the economy will become self-sufficient, the trade deficit will decrease, and the confidence of the state will also increase among the international community. The

industry can help spread social responsibility programs further. which directly benefits the underemployed groups. If internal investment increases, if they are able to operate smoothly, a positive environment for external investment will be created.

It enhances the country's international reputation. It does not mean that the 581 industries registered in the first 6 months of the financial year 2081/82 bring or brought this status. The political-economic leadership became serious in the establishment and operation of industrial enterprises  Multilateral benefits of the country are assured.

In order to further improve the registration and operation of industry, the government should be more flexible in its existing policies. Ending the hassle of registration process, development of one-door tax system, land-transportation and electricity can be encouraged to increase facilities. The program is not only necessary for registration, but also for the continuation of existing industries.

Many industries have also closed down due to various  difficulties. The state itself should provide guardianship to develop self-reliance that can sustain them. It is also indispensable to create the infrastructure and environment that can fully operate those that are already running. Because, in the first six months of the last financial year, the average capacity utilization of industries across Nepal is 41.11 percent.

It also exposes other areas where we need to improve. In conclusion, the attention of all stakeholders should be focused on encouraging the registration of industries, speeding up the infrastructure construction of industrial zones, special economic zones and industrial villages, making the industry run at full capacity and increasing industrial production.
