Opportunity to climb Humla by road

In developed countries, many dimensions that reflect development and prosperity are in front of people's eyes. Residents of many districts and cities of developing Nepal have experienced comparatively more development. On the other hand, some districts and their headquarters have been connected to the national highway.

Simkot became the last capital to be connected to the national highway after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the belay bridge built on the Karnali river at Chuvakhola, Kharpunath rural municipality-5 of Humla only on Sunday. Along with the Bely Bridge built on the road under the Karnali Corridor, the Chinese border of Hilsa is also connected from the Indian border of Jamuna (Rupaidia).

Firstly, due to the access to the road, the facilities available to the people there will increase. On the other hand, since there is a road connecting India-China, there is also a basis for the country to benefit from it. In this way, the Chuwakhola bridge has made the people of all areas connected with Humlawasi and Karnali Corridor happy, and the basis of economic-strategic benefits has also been added to the country.

After 26 years of road construction, Simkot has been connected to the National Highway. Two and a half decades of construction work confirms our slow pace in road and bridge construction. However, this problem is nationwide. By this we are delaying the possibility of immediate achievement. Therefore, it is necessary to implement practical measures to speed up the construction of roads and bridges. On the other hand, the development infrastructure road itself has become the standard of development. As a result, the specific aspect of development has not been discussed.

Access to other development infrastructures including roads and the social and economic progress of the community is also becoming weak. Therefore, the use of the national road network that has reached Simkot should not be focused only on the issue of facilitating the daily life of the local people. Governments at all levels should realize the challenge of how to enhance the overall progress of the people living in the Karnali Corridor region.

The potential opportunity after the Karnali Corridor becomes unbroken by the construction of a bridge at Chuwakhola can be seen from two angles. First, the facility to reach the locals. Due to the absence of a bridge in Chuwakhola, vehicles were operating in three sections and passengers had to pay high fares. Now this situation will end. It will facilitate the people's life and increase the chances of progress.

can increase their productivity and mobility as travel time is shortened and costs are also avoided. Karnali Corridor also connects Bajura and Humla. With the help of the corridor, the possibility of building other infrastructures for development and commercial activities will automatically increase. Employment opportunities and economic activity will also increase. The doors of marketing and commercialization of local products will also be opened.

Internal and external tourism can be strengthened. This road also helps to increase the confidence of the people there. Ultimately it also plays a role in reducing the rate of migration from there. Similarly, the more north-south connecting roads will be built in Nepal, it will also increase the interaction and integration between the different communities here. It will ultimately increase coexistence, cooperation and adoption.

Second, this road connects from Jamunah (Rupadia) border with India to Hilsa border with China, which is 505 km. The road connecting India and China is important for Nepal from many points of view. Nepal's economic activity is largely dependent on India. Road access to be established on both sides gives us options. It can be used as per your convenience. Similarly, we have been dreaming of becoming a dynamic bridge connecting India and China for a long time.

But we lack infrastructure. This road can help fill that gap. If such roads can be established along commercial routes, the basis for building a dynamic bridge can also be increased. Apart from Karnali Corridor, Koshi Corridor connecting Jogbani in Morang to Kimathanka in Sankhuwasabha, Kaligandaki Corridor connecting Gandakot in Nawalparasi to Korla in Mustang can also be seen in this wave.

Other roads connected unilaterally with India or China also increase the possibilities of trade, tourism, etc. However, our desire cannot be fulfilled with only unpaved and unsafe roads. Improvement of road quality should also be accelerated.
