Foreign employment added to the concern

The government expresses its happiness about the increase in remittances, but it does not seem to care about the health, social and economic deviations that come with remittances.

Foreign employment added to the concern

Not only in rural areas, but also in urban areas, it is difficult to find houses for people who do not go for foreign employment. We have the idea that the economic situation cannot be improved without going for foreign employment. The houses of members who have gone for foreign employment are seen to have some facilities compared to others. That is also increasing the desire of many to go for foreign employment.

The latest generation, which has not been able to do much here and does not see the future, is more attracted to foreign employment. People from rural areas who have read general literature are also going for foreign employment recently. Even though they go here for studies, their focus is ultimately on employment. Those who have gone to work are going to earn money without saying sweat. Some of them are forced to earn money to raise their farms, while some of them are sweating in foreign lands to fulfill their family's dreams.

Many people who go for foreign employment do not even know about the precautions to be taken while working or eating or staying there. Neither people seem to be aware of the need to be aware of those who go for foreign employment from here, nor does the government provide any training in this regard. Except for one manpower company, not many are serious about this matter. There are many examples of people going from Nepal for foreign employment to different countries having to go through various health problems and other problems.

We have seen, read and heard some news that many young people who went from Nepal recently came back with kidney disease. Recently, there has been a comment that nothing can be done in Nepal. In Nepal, when young people work tirelessly to fulfill their and their family's dreams without seeing the possibilities, various health problems appear. Some young people who have gone to a country where it is hotter than Nepal, have problems because they are ignorant about the climate and lifestyle. There are also many examples of young people who have gone to work abroad and had to return to Nepal due to lack of accommodation, food and climate. Thus, after suffering from health problems abroad, they finally have no choice but to return to Nepal. In this way, there are many people who return to Nepal with disease and not wealth.

According to Aspalal, many young people who come to the Martyr Dharmabhakta National Organ Transplantation Center in Bhaktapur with kidney problems have returned from foreign employment. Some have come back after being diagnosed at the initial stage, while some are returning and undergoing treatment after reaching the last stage. When they returned to Nepal with health problems, the family became more worried. In the last case, returning to Nepal for treatment is not only a worry for the family, we can see many examples where some families are devastated as their earned wealth is spent on health treatment.

Some of the households are going for foreign employment by keeping mortgage and taking loans at metered interest. Such people are also returning and undergoing treatment. Their family's hopes and fortunes are not in a state of upheaval. The dreams of young people who envisioned a golden future by improving their family's financial situation have been shattered.

According to government data, thousands of young people from Nepal are now going to work abroad. Some of them have gone despite having health problems. The doctors say that the health institutions designated for health examination send some of the people who are going to work abroad even if they have problems. There are plenty of examples of people who have gone abroad for employment after health check-up from Nepal and had to return to Nepal as soon as they got there due to kidney problems. Recently, although both men and women go for foreign employment, the statistics of the hospital show that most of those with kidney problems are men. According to Shahid Dharmabhakta National Organ Transplant Center, half of the people who returned home due to kidney problems are from the tribal community.

During foreign employment, especially when women started going along with men, there has been a rapid change in family, social and cultural practices of Nepali society. There are also problems like deviations in married life, increasing attraction in extramarital relationships. Because of this, it has been found that there has been a deviation in the mental status of the society, the family and the individual. There have also been cases where women from households whose husbands have gone abroad for work have developed relationships with married men through social media, causing the family to break down. Similarly, we can see many examples of women who have gone abroad to work, and the men of the family have married a second time and the family has broken down. In some cases, the women of the house whose men have gone abroad have to endure the accusation of character assassination.

If there is a problem with the health of a person who has gone for foreign employment, there will be a family disturbance and if the person or family member who has gone for foreign employment goes astray, he has to bear all kinds of family and social risks, so it seems that the person himself should think hundreds of times before taking any action.

Foreign employment has more negative effects than positive effects in the society. As the competent, fertile and creative young people of the society migrate abroad due to foreign employment, some villages are becoming places where only children and the elderly live. Even if there is an emergency in such villages, there is a shortage of young people to rescue them.

The government has been expressing happiness that remittances have increased. But there is no concern about the health, social and economic distractions that come with remittances. If the changes in health problems, family structure and marital relations as a result of foreign employment cannot be managed in a positive way, its effects will spread even deeper and become serious.
