Sagarmatha Dialogue has been completed by issuing a 25-point invitation letter. In this dialogue, which lasted for three days, India's Union Forest and Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav, Chinese National People's Congress Standing Committee Vice President Xiao GA and Azerbaijan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev, who is the chairman of COP-29, participated in the participation of ministerial level representatives from 12 countries including Japan, Bhutan, and Maldives.

There was significant presence of development partners and research institutions in the dialogue. More than 5 dozen organizations participated in the conference.

This time, the topic of climate resonated in the ears of Nepal's political figures. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli along with Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba and Forest and Environment Minister Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri continuously worked to make the dialogue a success. The conference is over, but as for what to say next, an underdeveloped country like ours rarely continues to write it down. In this dialogue, it is said to be aware of the effects of climate change from the mountains to the coastal areas and do climate action.  Most of the topics touched on by climate were discussed in the

dialogue. Our steps will show the question of how we take and implement the invitation issued by the first international level program organized by Nepal focusing on the issue of climate. If we look at past conferences, our track record does not look good. For example, we have not discussed further what is the status of the actions directed by the international climate dialogue by investing heavily in Chandragiri Hills.

Prioritizing the green economy and increasing the global and regional partnership by connecting mountain to island nations to prevent threats, the conference discussed the agenda. It is said to commit to building a fair, accessible and sustainable future for all. For that, we should be able to calculate the necessary preparation and resource certainty.  In the

conference, we have said that we should save the mountains. But if we look at our situation, the question has started to arise that we have not deviated from our duty. By not determining the number of climbers, we are littering our mountains. As the mountains become more polluted, there is also the danger of black ice appearing and melting over time, increasing the risk of floods and landslides. A young Sherpa, a witness of the Everest climb, is raising the voice that the mountain should be rested.

We are ignoring issues such as how many climbers are allowed to climb our mountains, how many days they can stay in the mountains, and what kind of regulation to prevent pollution. It should also be clarified how many days the climbers going to climb the mountains will be allowed to stay at the base camp.

because resources are consumed more in the Himalayan region. This means increased energy consumption. An increase in energy consumption means an increase in local emissions. That means influencing the local climate. Bringing food and other resources used by climbers from other places also adds to the management of waste produced. Because a few years ago, issues of increased pollution due to climbers at Everest Base Camp were made public.

It is mentioned in the Everest invitation letter that emphasizing the role of the carbon market and the role of the carbon market to facilitate the access to technology and capacity development during climate adaptation actions. Climate-related activities are being carried out by bringing support from various donor agencies. However, according to the recent report released by the Office of the Auditor General, the details of our climate action and budget expenditure are very low.

The Everest Dialogue has also called for the use and solutions of science, technology and innovation while establishing a multilateral international platform on mountains and climate change. For this we have a pyramid laboratory in the existing high Himalayan region. In the 1990s, we asked Nepal and Italy to conduct scientific research and research for this purpose in Lobuche of Everest.

The lab ran for a few years but has been closed for the past decade. If it can be continued, it will help in the collection and research of climatic data in the Himalayan and Everest regions. Pyramid Lab was established with such diverse objectives, but we could not fully utilize that laboratory.

Sagarmatha Samvad should be held in its own national auditorium in the next edition. The state invested crores and built Sunrise Hall in Godavari but it has not been utilized. This hall was built to host international forums like the Everest Dialogue, but we have failed to use it.

Similarly, when organizing such forums, the state can remain as the organizer and give the management work to other organizations to do its administrative and other logistical work. The National Nature Conservation Fund has more than four decades of experience in organizing international meetings and conferences in Nepal. Organizations such as funds can manage. Recently, by holding the international snow leopard conference, the fund has also played a leading role in Nepal's conservation sector.

Another good aspect of the Everest dialogue is that the issue of climate has now been established as a major issue in Nepal. The Sagarmatha Dialogue has given the message that the issue of climate is not only for a certain organization, person or ministry, but it is a matter for every profession, sector, business and concerned people. Climate matters from the water we drink to the breath we breathe. We must have a clear blueprint of how we present it.
