We were forced to form a government with the first and second largest parties. Where the role of the opposition became secondary. Now when such a government is also failing, what will the people say?

After the success of various stages of the movement, the country has gone to a federal republican system according to the constitution. We made a lot of promises to the people at that time. Now is the time to remember some of them.
At that time we said, now the political revolution is over. The next turn is the economic revolution. We will put an end to bad governance and establish good governance, end impunity, do not and will not allow corruption, etc.
Today is the time for us to ask ourselves, where are we? Did we do what we said we would? If it could not be done, whose fault is it? Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have been in power since 2047, and CPN-Maoist came to the mainstream in 2063. In this sense, there is no option for these three parties to take all the merits and demerits of the past 35 years. Not that nothing happened here at all. But if it's not as much as it should be, it's sure.
Where did we go wrong?
1. Politically we have always been weak. On the one hand, the constitution itself could not envisage a majority of one party and a permanent five-year government. On the other hand, almost two-thirds of the government did not last five years.
is not only that, small parties dominated the big party while forming the government. We deviated from the general parliamentary belief that the first party would form the government, the third and other smaller ones would help the first party in the government, and the second largest party would become a strong opposition. Between the first and second parties there was a scramble to help the third party. Even the younger ones got bigger and bigger. Such irony happened not only in the union but also in the state.
After all options were exhausted, we were forced to do something like forming a government together with the first and second largest parties. Where the role of the opposition became secondary. Now when such a government is also failing, what will the people say?
We have politicized the bureaucracy to the extreme, as a result the employees are nobody's business. Political corruption flourished. The middlemen became powerful not only in the project but also in the recruitment process. Distrust of each other and misrule led to the dominance of the courts in the administration of the state. Impunity flourished in such a way that the same rule-law applied to some and not to others.
2. Economy has never been a priority of any party or government. No party ever took the challenge of the economy seriously when the game of forming and toppling the government was played out in unstable politics. The budget was filled with ambitious projects. The export of labor and remittance income from it became the backbone of the economy. We failed to address the social challenges it posed and still no one cares.
Even when the external sector was strong in the economy, domestic demand could not increase. As the youth go abroad for job search and education, domestic demand does not increase. Due to the massive migration from the hilly areas to the cities and migration from the cities abroad, the houses in the cities started to become empty. Businesses could not survive due to lack of demand due to the exodus of young people of consuming age. As the government could not spend, it affected all areas.
Due to lack of business and lack of demand, bad loans increased in banks. This is the reason why demand for credit does not increase, real estate transactions do not increase, and the stock market does not accelerate even though there is no contraction of liquidity in the market. Who will buy loans, real estate and shares when the population of consumption age is not in the country?
3. Even though three tiers of government were envisioned after going to federalism, only two tiers became active. When the union and local level were active, the province was seen as a burden. If the central government did not issue laws and employees on time, the provinces also became busy trying to make themselves leaders as branches of the union. Even the powers given by the constitution were not effectively used by the provincial and local levels. The idea that the Union will look at policy making, laws, foreign relations, currency, etc., develop the provinces and provide services at the local level has failed or been made.
4. Due to the lack of capacity development, we could not properly handle situations like natural calamities and accidents. The damage caused by the floods last October showed us how vulnerable we are in the capital. What would those living far away think if they did not see the lions?
5. 2024 was a year of elections around the world. Looking at the election results, it was seen that in most of the countries, the side that works for their own interest is more dominant than for mutual interest. The leaders of the world's major countries no longer have the same tolerance as they did around 2000. It doesn't take much time for any government to take unilateral decisions anymore. Organizations like the United Nations became weak. Now the word Grant should be looked up in the dictionary. Now, no party or leader should think that they will raise the slogan of nationalism in the country by insulting a country or a leader.
Russia-Ukraine war, Israel's attack on Hamas, India-Pakistan tension and America's trade war, all the countries of the world have fallen and are about to fall. We are not and will not be immune to it. In a small economy like ours, the impact is even greater. Now we are not happy without at least becoming self-sufficient in food. What is a
?
1. What stopped you from working? Why not spend? Why are projects not completed on time? Let's find answers to these questions together. Let me entrust the work without telling you, let's arrange rewards and punishments. Your co-op cheated, cheated me? This is the height of mismanagement. Any cheater is a cheater, you are not and should not be mine. The same law should apply to all.
2. Let's make it a habit not to do politics in autonomous institutions like universities and Nepal Rashtra Bank. How long to play with the future of students? It was fine until the cadre was made the governor of Nepal Rashtra Bank, but what happened when the governor was made a party worker is still in front of us. Let's not do this now. Let the appointed officials work according to the law.
3. Make the budget small, let's spend. Cut unnecessary expenses.
4. Why is the coalition that agreed on the agenda of constitutional amendment afraid to enter that area? If we do not enter into this matter now, tomorrow will be difficult and our past achievements will have to be compromised, let us be aware today. Let's preserve the achievements of the past and move forward. Let's find a solution to all problems from this constitution.
5. Parliament is the place where people's representatives raise people's problems. We have developed that institution into a place of personal abuse. This is wrong. let's think Let's maintain the dignity and dignity of Parliament.
6. Give all the rights given by the constitution to the province. Now the reason for public anger towards the state is not the state itself but the attitude of the center. It is not a branch of the state union, it is a separate government formed according to the constitution, let us all understand.
7. Let's hear from an entrepreneurial businessman. When a law or procedure is amended to benefit a particular household or business, many others are left in the lurch. Concessions to be given to import substitution enterprises We haven't done the
yet. Ease of loan payment is necessary at this time, solve the problem, otherwise both the bank and the customer will be in trouble.
8. Our mountains and heritage have been listed by various organizations of the world as a must-visit list for tourists. Billions of rupees have been invested in tourism infrastructure from the private sector. So let's not go on strike. Don't let negative information flow. If there is any problem, let's resolve it by negotiation within a couple of days. Not only Pashupatinath, Lumbini, Janakpur, Halesi, Muktinath, but there are hundreds of religious tourist areas in the country, which can be visited by lakhs of locals and foreigners every year. If the government builds only the road to reach those places, the private sector will do the rest.
9. Hydropower can be the backbone of our economy. On the one hand, our own demand is increasing, on the other hand, we can sell as much electricity as we can to India, which is undergoing rapid economic development. Let's not politicize energy production and distribution. Whoever did it, let's discourage those who keep the river in the bag and increase the power generation capacity by at least one thousand megawatts every year.
Correcting our mistakes mentioned above, let us now increase productivity in agriculture and ensure value and supply chain. Make regulations timely to develop tech as a sustainable source of income. Increase investment in making education quality and technology friendly. If necessary steps can be taken to make health accessible and quality, if we can proceed with infrastructure development, no one will ever have to come to the streets for rights.
