In 2025, around 5.22 billion people around the world, i.e. around 60 percent of the total population, use various social networks. Nowadays, people are more interested in how to increase 'views' on their posts than information.

It is becoming an obligation for all of us to follow the flow of the changing society. So people are going far away from their real ground in pursuit of unnecessary luxuries. The list of humanitarian needs is getting very long. Even a child who speaks a dialect will not eat without watching a cartoon on his mobile phone. We are raising children wrongly.
Not only children but also youth and senior citizens are getting addicted to it day by day. Youngsters engage in social media for entertainment and to some extent for their studies and other information. Social media has unknowingly isolated people from their families, neighbors, relatives and groups.
With the increasing trend of young people going abroad, adults have started spending time on Facebook, Messenger and TikTok. Children and grandchildren who come from abroad open social media accounts to make it easier for them to talk, so adults are also busy with it. Some have started expressing their childhood desires through Tiktok. Even adults of
age, some sing, some dance, some recite poetry, and some narrate things of wisdom. Some of them are spreading distortions by making unnecessary and uncomfortable videos to go viral. Because of social media, on the one hand, it is helping people's hidden talents to emerge, on the other hand, activities such as showing their personal stories, abusing other people's videos have also increased in the wave of virality.
These kinds of activities make social relations bad. The traditional values in Nepalese society emphasize respect, honor and care. Our society has taught respect to the younger and respect to the elder. Due to the impact of modernization, various distortions have appeared in our lifestyle and culture.
It discusses the importance of foreign cultures rather than our own. Nowadays, due to the influence of social media, there is detailed information about when and how to celebrate the festival celebrated by foreigners. 10/12 years ago, celebrating festivals like Valentine's Day and Christmas Day were not that common in Nepal. Their original festivals like Bheja, Guthi, Dhikur, Parm, Mela and Hatbazar etc. are disappearing. We should be aware of this early and preserve traditions and festivals.
Some people are using social media correctly to grow their business. Some use these means of communication just to pass the time. In 2025, about 5.22 billion people around the world, that is about 60 percent of the total population, use various social networks.
Currently, people are more interested in how to increase views on their posts than information. For 'views', increasing violence in the society, harassing others, hesping, and using bad words has also increased a lot. It seems to develop a negative feeling towards the society in the minds of children and youth. Forgetting our social values, these distortions for 'views', likes, comments and shares seem to be increasing day by day.
Making video clips that you can't sit down and watch with your family is gradually increasing. Some women are indirectly helping to bring about a positive change in everyone by making videos with awareness messages.
Housewives who are staying at home are making various dishes in their kitchens, how to cultivate kousi, the vegetables they need in their own kousi or karesabari, and sharing videos that inspire other women sisters in the society to become self-reliant.
Some women have made a very beautiful and informative video about how to take care of their children and how to feed them, giving the message that women in the society can easily and simply run a household if they want, and reduce unnecessary family expenses. But some people are increasing their activities like showing their body parts to increase 'views', talking live to get gifts. Such activities are having a negative impact on the society. Be careful when using
social media. Pay attention to the essentials and don't waste hours being interested in unnecessary things or videos. Only awareness and message videos should be shared and videos should be made to teach knowledge skills. It is important to be comfortable with uploading videos and photos that do not harm others.
