Where did the government go?

How you become as a person is your choice. But the government does not have that facility. He is bound by the thread of his own commitment, consent or public expectation. At this time, the government is trying to pick up the same thread and walk away.

Where did the government go?

With the analysis that the country is sinking into despair, last June, Congress and UML reached a 7-point agreement with the aim of power alliance. The alliance between the two major parties was then seen as a political 'Brahmastra' that would crush despair. However, due to the weakness within the power coalition, that 'Brahmastra' is fading.

The two parties broke the promise they had made when forming an alliance with the aim of changing the then government, and they have come far apart. After gaining power, they have not only ignored the consensus among themselves, but they have not been sensitive to the fluid politics of the country. This unfortunate situation is not a pleasant experience for Nepali people.

On June 17, when the seven-point agreement was reached, Congress and UML also announced stability. However, when the then Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal changed the alliance in a year and a half, the Nepali people had reached a state where nothing was happening in this country. Therefore, there was hope that the consensus of the two main parties in the House of Representatives would provide stability.

After gaining power, the two main parties have not only ignored the agreement, they have also shown no sensitivity to the changing situation of the country. The first three points of the seven-point agreement of June 17 were noteworthy.

First, to protect the national interest according to the wishes of the common people, to maintain good governance in the country by controlling corruption, to accelerate the nation's development and construction campaign and to form a government of national consensus under Article 76 (2) of the Constitution by involving other political parties for political stability.

Secondly, after the implementation of the constitution, the government of national consensus will review the strengths and weaknesses and complexities that have emerged in practice, and give priority to the necessary amendments to the constitution and the creation of appropriate laws for political stability.

Thirdly, by putting an end to the current laxity in the economy, by preparing a reliable business environment and making the economic activities viable, by encouraging internal and external investment, to create sufficient and dignified employment in the country.

It has been eight and a half months since Oli became the Prime Minister with that announcement. But there is no sense of initiative or progress on the issues mentioned in the agreement itself. Nepal is among the most corrupt countries in Transparency International's list. Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has placed Nepal in the 'grey list'. A

that shows the lack of progress in ending corruption and maintaining good governance. Economic activity remains sluggish. There is no investment environment, and more than 6 billion has been deposited in banks and financial institutions. This shows that the progress for which the present government was formed has been disappointing.

is a natural expectation for a powerful government - to strengthen the system, to make service delivery more agile, to address the citizens' expectations, to improve the working style while realizing the sensitive situation of the country. From improving the economy to creating an investment environment, creating jobs should be the main priority.

Since the beginning, the government is trying to forget the original path and move towards the secondary path. In this regard, the Cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to remove the Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, Kulman Ghising. Although such a decision falls within the jurisdiction of the government, public justification must be established. The government has not been able to provide any convincing reason why he should not be removed now.

Even if the leader of the ruling party is involved in cooperative fraud, it is going to be established that there is no investigation. Congress vice president Dhanraj Gurung and his 'ex-wife' Jyoti Gurung were accused of embezzling money from Miteri Sahakari in Lalitpur. But there was no investigation on Gurung. Likewise, the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives and the UML leader Rishikesh Pokharel and his wife Anjala Koirala were involved in the cooperative fraud case.

is your own choice of how you become as a person. But the government does not have that facility. He is bound by the thread of his own commitment, consent or public expectation. At this time, the government is trying to pick up the same thread.

This kind of action is a betrayal of the people rather than the background in which this government was formed. This is the reason why the government is facing a crisis of legitimacy even though it is technically strong. Not only the government operators, but also the common citizens of the country are being felt to be holding their breath by this thread.
