20 years of age of marriage is not a problem, it is the practice of discrimination of menstruation at home, school, workplace, parliament everywhere.

The topic of how old is the age to get married has come up again in the debate. It is necessary to clarify something about those who say that it is unreasonable to implement the age of marriage at 20 years, so the age should be reduced to 18 years.

The argument that the age of marriage should be lowered because parents are illiterate, poverty, dowry should be given is shameful. Because for this especially the local government should have a special program to screen uneducated, poor parents. There are many reasons for child marriage, the most important reason is the lack of self-confidence of daughters, the socialization of ego "born as a son" in sons.

There are people working abroad from home to home. The family is connected through smartphones, internet and social media. Therefore, the argument that the number of people marrying at a young age has increased, if they go to jail, they would be convicted as rapists is also shameful for the following reasons.

1) Having internet and smart phones means access to many dimensions of life these days. There should be knowledge and scientific regulation in the use of internet and smart phone or social media.

2) In the world of AI, blaming the use of the Internet and smart phones or social networks on a group deprived of access to other structures is unnatural and flawed.

The argument that girls started menstruating at the age of 9-10 and that they are mature is guided by criminal thinking. Menstruation is not a sign of maturity, it is just a sign that if everything goes well in the future, you can have a baby. The argument that one should marry before the onset of menstruation is completely criminal, inhumane and a violation of constitutional rights.

There are dozens of reasons behind the onset of menstruation. In which temperature rise, stress, diet etc. are the main ones. Menstruation means the whole body is healthy. Especially the brain, heart, muscles, bones, joints etc. are also necessary to be strong and healthy.

The argument that 16 years to get citizenship, 20 years to get married is flawed and inhumane. Although citizenship and marriage are two different aspects, they are not comparable. It is criminal thinking to equate the age adopted by the state for political socialization with the age required for mental, physical health and development.

It is 16 years in other countries, why we say 18 years? The argument is also absurd. You don't have to do what others do.

While saying this, in some cases, it is not legally inconsistent to register marriages and births. Have we adopted a special approach to address these issues? Did we program to increase the self-strength of girls under any conditions or for a period of time? Did we try to make our sons accountable? What have we done to parents?

How many programs and how much budget did the local government complete to solve these problems? In which public event did the person in charge of the municipality spend only 1 minute on this matter? What, how much did the school teach on this subject? The decision to make the age of marriage 20 years old was not taken in consideration. You cannot eat rice after planting corn. Rice should be planted to eat rice.

It is a feudal and inhumane thinking to walk around as a celebrity, make various announcements/propaganda for public consumption, and think that people should know for themselves.

Has anyone explored the underlying causes and solutions to why child marriage strategies and programs have not been effective? It has been almost 60 years since the Sarada Act of 1929 came from India to end child marriage.

Why is child marriage not decreasing in Nepal's nearly 50-year history and still being the third country in South Asia where child marriage still occurs? While the discussion on the age of marriage is going on, we should not forget the 96-year long history of child marriage reduction.

Most of the organizations and networks working to reduce child marriage for 96 years have not debated about the 'menstrual discrimination' that reduces the self-esteem of girls and makes sons violent.

Menstrual discrimination fosters systemic inequalities, creating unequal power and patriarchy. As a result, daughters who can't say 'no', 'no' and 'don't' to menstrual discrimination have become dulled.

Menstrual cramps vary in name, appearance and severity. Marriage age of 20 years is not a problem, it is the practice of discrimination of menstruation at home, school, workplace, parliament everywhere. It is a problem not to consider silence, shame, fear, violence, abuse, deprivation of resources and resources as a problem.

Poverty, ignorance, gender monogamy, human trafficking, disasters or epidemics are considered to be the main causes of child marriage. According to this, training was provided for journalists, lawyers, police, dhamis, pundits, teachers, income-earning jobs for parents, insurance for daughters, scholarships, etc. The discussion focused on the effect of early marriage on health and education.

By regularizing the programs that have been done so far, if the campaign to make menstruation dignified is carried out in homes and schools under the leadership of the municipality, not only child marriage but also other gender violence can be reduced. And, it is easy for Nepal to meet the goal of reducing child marriage in 2030.

Therefore, the age of marriage should be maintained at 20 years. By mainstreaming the innovative, comprehensive concept of 'limited menstruation' into our activities to reduce child marriage, child marriage can be substantially reduced by the year 2030. The dream of happy Nepali, prosperous Nepal can be realized.
