To reform or marry the teenager who is in trouble?

When we were young, many of our parents used to say, 'Son is spoiled, now we have to get married.' Baama was not interested in the reformation of his son who was in Kulat. He used to search for a suitable daughter of Kulghar and marry her. Even after marriage, the son did not improve. However, the parents did not see the lineage of the son.

On the contrary, he blamed his daughter-in-law for spoiling his son. He used to beat his daughter-in-law, tease her and abuse her a lot. The poor daughter-in-law had to silently endure the double violence of her husband and his family, who was in the vassalage all her life.

time has changed. The system has changed in the country. Acts/laws were amended. However, the social mentality towards son's clan and marriage has not changed yet. The mentality that the son should get married if he is spoiled is not only among the parents of the village. Now it is also seen in the parents who make the country. Because, the representative of the people like Tamsiasara has presented himself to marry Baa to correct his spoiled son. That too the official members of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee of the Federal Parliament. They say, "When the age of marriage is higher, many teenagers face cases of rape. Juvenile correctional facilities were filled with juveniles charged with rape. The way to avoid this is to reduce the age of marriage.' The sub-committee under the

committee conducted a study and discussion of child reform homes in Lumbini, Sudurpaschim and Madhesh provinces. Discussed with citizens. Locals have suggested lowering the age of marriage from 20 to 18 or 16. By doing this, they argue, many teenagers would not go to jail for rape and sexual violence. The committee is submitting a report to the parliament to reduce the marriage age by including those suggestions.

columnist fearlessly and unhesitatingly say, 'Parliamentarians, your perception of marriage is wrong. Change it first. It is natural to have sex after marriage. However, marriage is not just about sex. Rape cases are not due to late marriage. There are reasons for having a criminal mindset. Therefore, the government will not lower the age of marriage. A campaign should be conducted to reduce the criminal mentality among teenagers. Adolescents should not be forced into marriage to unleash their criminal attitudes and mania. If this is done, the MPs will also be willing to support criminal activities. Reform of teenagers and young people who are in the rut of the government, do not lower the age of marriage.

It seems that some seniors have expressed their views on social media and media in support of lowering the marriage age from MPs. The age for citizenship is 16, the age for becoming a voter is 18, so why is the age for marriage 20? They have to be reminded, 'Getting citizenship, becoming a voter and getting married are different things.' Marriage is a social, religious and legal relationship between two people. A relationship that must fulfill family obligations and responsibilities along with love and trust. Daughters should be mature enough to take on such responsibilities.

In Nepal, the marriage age limit of 18 years for women and 20 years for men has been increased to 20 years from August 1, 2075. According to the Criminal Code 2074, a married person should not get married before reaching the age of 20 years. If this is done, the person who arranges the marriage will be imprisoned for up to 3 years and fined up to 30,000 rupees. A marriage under the age of 20 is void regardless of the manner in which it was performed. Considering women's health, school-level education and maturity, 20 years is appropriate, so 20 years was established after extensive study and debate at that time. However, now, in the name of on-site study, a report has been made to reduce the age of marriage across Hachuwaka.

According to the World Health Organization, 20 years ago a woman's body was not fit to be a mother. That's why many years have been running a health campaign saying that marriage lasts for 20 years in Nepal. In Nepal, even though the marriage age is 18, health counseling was given to have children after 20 years. It is natural to have children after marriage. Early marriage has a negative impact on women's health. The risk of death in childbirth is the same. As child marriages are decreasing, infant mortality is decreasing in Nepal. Therefore, whether the mother giving birth to the child is physically, mentally and financially mature. Marriage should not be done regardless of its size and condition of the girl.

Even though it is prohibited by law, child marriage still exists in our society. According to the National Census 2078, there are currently 46,63,873 people in the age group of 10 to 17 years. Among them, 192 thousand 104 people got married before reaching 18 years of age. Among them, there are 156 thousand 731 girls or teenagers. There are 35 thousand 373 children or teenagers. The government should run awareness programs to prevent child marriage. Parents should be reminded of the age of marriage. Adolescents should be reminded that even if they are in love, they should not have sexual relations or get married until they are adults. Even if they are married teenagers, they should be reminded and handed over to their parents. Parents who forcibly marry children should be brought to justice.

In recent times, the trend of late marriage is increasing in the society. Even after the young people are on their feet after their education, they are in no rush to get married. They start preparing themselves mentally. At such a time, the government and the parliament should not go in opposite directions. When teenagers become sexually violent, they should be channeled, not married off. Let's provide comprehensive sex education to prevent teenagers from becoming violent. Let's explain about the sexual curiosity of body and mind according to age. Let's learn to be aware of our body, sexual and reproductive health and make the right decisions. Let's teach them to be considerate towards their classmates and colleagues. However, let's not force young girls into marriage to save them from crime.
