On December 1, 2017, the elected Prime Minister Vishweshwar Prasad Koirala was imprisoned for murdering the parliamentary system of government. The then King Mahendra was in Daudaha to show himself popular with the people in front of the world. His aim was to show that there was no opposition anywhere.

On January 9, 2018, while he was returning from a visit to the Janaki temple in Janakpur, a grenade was hit on his car as he sat in the car in front of the gate. The aim was accurate, but the difference was only 2-3 inches. Mahendra's life was spared but the deafening sound of the explosion shook his heart. Dissatisfaction among the people after the killing of democracy, the anger among the youth due to the arrest of the elected Prime Minister Koirala, Ganeshman Singh, Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, Surya Prasad Upadhyay, Ram Narayan Mishra, Premraj Angdambe, Diwansingh Rai, Yogendraman Sherchan, Jamansingh Gurung, Shivraj Pant and the clear message of the revolutionaries who are determined to destroy the democracy for the sake of the people all over the world. had reached Remembering the challenge of the uprising, the life thrills. There is no other example of such a big revolutionary action in Nepal.

It was the epitome of daring acuity to break through the entire security armor of the army, police and the king to approach the king with a grenade and boldly take a successful target from the crowd and disappear after the job was done. The hero who gave success to that blast operation was Devnarayan Jha, born on 14th Baisakh, 1999, in Jatahi village of Dhanusha and the only son of Sukarmaridevi, Veer Putut Shaheed Samrat Durganand Jha. It is said that the Janakpur explosion on 9th January 2018 was probably not intended to kill King Mahendra because the grenade was not powerful enough. Democracy was a rallying cry and rejection of democracy-killing monarchy and republican bugle. To blow this bugle, the revolutionaries had prepared a series of operations in Janakpur. Kalilo Kishore Arvind Thakur, who was born in February 2006 in Lohna, Janakpur sub-metropolitan city, was stuck at the exit of the airport for the purpose of that action. However, he was arrested under suspicion because he repeatedly tried to come forward in an attempt to stand on the way to the vehicle near the security team. Another team was active in detonating the Rangabhoomi (Bahrabigha) where the stage was set up for Mahendra. Durganand Janaki was waiting for an opportunity to enter the temple crowd. Ramchandra Singh, Maheshwar Prasad Singh and other youths were active in the undercover team.

After that bomb incident in Janakpur, there were various reactions. It was natural for Mahendra's successor, the royalist Jamaat, to condemn and condemn the attack on Mahendra as a terrorist, and other political figures in Nepal also made statements in support of the king. It was not surprising that it happened in Nepal 63 years ago. Ramchandra Singh says that because the Nepali Congress was a declared supporter of constitutional monarchy at that time, many within the Congress did not like the action. Although Communist leader Pushpalal reacted in a roundabout way after the incident of bomb attack on Raja, in his statement he criticized the autocratic rule of Raja and voiced the need for democratic rights.

Suvarna Shamsher, the top Congress leader, had a brief reaction after the bomb incident. According to Ramchandra Singh, Suvarna Shamsher supported the scandal by saying that the king's autocratic rule was the reason for this. Even though it could not be expressed externally, the public hoped that the scandal would lead to a strong resistance to the assassination of the democratic parliamentary system and that democracy would be re-established. A new vigor and energy was communicated in the Yuva Jamaat. The involvement of youth studying in the border areas increased in the movement of armed resistance. Many did not know who was involved in the action until later. After the bomb incident, Durganand disappeared in the crowd and reached the border area Umgaon the next day. Since Arvind Thakur was arrested, Durganand's name also came out. The team of Dukha Sahni and Dalsingh Thapa of Bara, who were coming with grenades and weapons through Birgunj road, had been arrested before the Janakpur incident. However, in spite of all this, Mahendra's security officials could not imagine that there could be such a big scandal in Janakpur.

Even though they were tortured, they may not have told or they may not have been informed that another team has been deployed for the same purpose. However, when we were in Nakhkhu jail, Dukha Sahni and Dalsingh Thapa told the youth of Janakpur that they were also sent to attack during Mahendra's visit to Janakpur, and Arvind Thakur also said the same. Even the fact that Shaheed Durganand bid farewell to Arvind Thakur and Dalsingh Thapa in the jail while being taken out for execution from the Central Jail seems to have sent them all for this purpose. Some claim that Suvarna Shamsher, the top leadership and commander of the armed resistance launched by the Nepali Congress against Mahendra's move, had no advance knowledge of the Janakpur incident and only came to know about it after the incident. However, it does not appear so. During Mahendra's journey to Janakpur, three teams were active in demonstrating violent opposition through explosions. Durganand Jha and Arvind Thakur were in the same team. But he was planning to strike at different places. A team was also active in the assembly grounds. There was also an explosion. However, the explosion was not that powerful and was suppressed. It was Ramchandra Singh who gave the grenades and blueprints to Durganand and Aravindji's team. Arvind Thakur has confirmed this in a brief conversation with Himal Khabar (16-30 February 2063).

Ramchandra Singh says - 'I don't remember exactly but maybe 8-9 days before the incident, we asked Parshun Narayan Chaudhary for a bomb at the Jayanagar camp. He had a long conversation with us and later prepared to give the bomb. The grenade was received only 2 days ago and I entrusted the grenade to Durganandji and Arvindji. We were secretly there to help them. After the explosion of the Janaki temple, Durgananda disappeared and so did we. The next day we reached the border. There was silence even within the Congress. Saroj Prasad Koirala was the only one who helped us. He was very excited. Only teammates were aware of the involvement in this act. We all resolved to observe complete secrecy.'

On the day when a bomb was dropped on Mahendra and the first trumpet of the republic was blown, martyr Durganand Jha was only 19 years and 10 months old. His 14-year-old wife Kashidevi, who had been married only a year and a half ago, was pregnant. Even in such a situation, he took charge of the blast operation, from which his level of courage and determination can be understood. Ideologically he was clear and firm. The meeting with his mother and his wife and even at the last moment telling the mother that 'one day everyone will be proud of you as Durganand's mother', makes clear Durgananda's determination and his pride in his work. Although he was asked to write a petition for forgiveness, he refused to write any such petition. Instead, Arvind Thakur and Dalsingh Thapa, while being taken out of the dungeon for the purpose of death penalty, took leave saying that 'one day the republic will surely come'.

Jananayak VP Koirala was in Sundarijal Jail when the bomb was hurled at Mahendra. His response or comment at the time has not come out, but he expressed his grief over Durgananda's death sentence in the story 'Ek Raat' (Shvetbhairavi Katha Samraha). Martyr Durganand was sentenced to death on January 15, 2020 after amending the then civil law. After 7/8 days, perhaps as soon as the news reached Sundarijal Jail, this story written on 23/24th of January 2020 has an idea of the night of hanging. BP's point of view on whether the bombing of Mahendra was right from the point of view of violence/non-violence in politics, and under what circumstances such a decision would have been made can be understood from that story. The situation he imagines while being in Sundarijal Jail is very much in line with reality.

also became a small revolutionary conference, where it was decided that the complete abandonment of violence in politics was impossible. Therefore, efforts should only be made to limit violence and use quantity only if necessary. When throwing the bomb, the teenager believed that this action was mandatory. When he was questioned by the police or in a court hearing, he told Eknas - 'I threw the bomb.' Even though the Republic was declared on 15th June 2065, it could be done only after 7 years and 8 months. Documents relating to Durgananda are not yet publicly available. It is necessary to have a detailed research about them at the initiative of the government. Why and for what reason did Durganand, who succeeded in reaching Umgaon on the border of India after the bomb incident, returned to Nepal by train and was arrested? Who was responsible for that? The story of his martyrdom and all the facts related to it should be officially brought before the people.
