Dr. Govinda KC, who has been on a hunger strike for five days with various demands, is experiencing worsening health conditions.
According to Seti Provincial Hospital, Dr. KC has been placed under the supervision of four specialist doctors after health complications were observed. The hospital stated that he has been admitted to the ICU since Saturday.
The hospital issued a statement on Monday saying that Dr. KC's blood pressure has dropped to 90 by 60 and his blood sugar level is only 42 mg. As a result, the hospital reported that he is experiencing hypoglycemia.
Similarly, the hospital noted the presence of ketones in his urine and acidosis in his blood. According to the hospital, he is experiencing dizziness, muscle twitching, and weakness, making it difficult for him to speak.
According to the hospital, Dr. KC is refusing to take glucose-raising medication and saline while continuing his hunger strike. A four-member team led by doctors has been assigned to his treatment, and the hospital stated that his health is being continuously monitored 24 hours a day.
The statement issued by the hospital mentioned that Dr. KC's health condition is becoming more complicated due to his long-standing diabetes and age.
Talks between the government side and Dr. KC's side to address his demands have been ongoing for two days.
