The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority has taken two government employees into custody in Sarlahi with a bribe of 750,000 rupees.
According to the Commission, Anupama Dhakal, Division Chief of the Underground Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office, Sarlahi, and Tulakant Chaudhary, a sixth-level Mechanical Officer, were apprehended after having already received the bribe from a service recipient.
The Commission stated that, based on information and complaints that the officials had demanded a bribe by harassing the service recipient during the payment process after the completion of boring and motor installation work, a team from its Bardibas office was deployed and took them into custody.
According to the Commission, they were apprehended yesterday from the quarters of the office chief of the Underground Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office, located in Bagmati Municipality–12, Sarlahi.
The Commission reported that 750,000 rupees taken as a bribe, 71,115 rupees of undisclosed source, and three mobile phones were recovered from them. The Commission stated that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
