Niharika Rajput and Binu Yadav, who were arrested while staging a sit-in at Singha Durbar demanding justice, have been released by the police on a court appearance bond. They had been staging a sit-in on the street demanding to meet Home Minister Sudhan Gurung. However, the police accused them of disturbing public peace by staging a sit-in on the road in front of Singha Durbar.
Niharika has been demanding justice for a long time, alleging that she was raped. After the District Court Dhanusha acquitted the accused, she again approached the High Court seeking justice. In the process, a DNA test of the accused Shivraj Shrestha and Niharika matched. Later, they were pressured into a settlement. Therefore, she has continued her protest, claiming injustice. Binu is also a victim of violence.
