A case has been filed at the District Court, Kathmandu against eight individuals on charges of embezzling funds from the Nepal Children’s Organization.

The case has been filed against Asha Shrestha, then head of the Planning and Scholarship Branch of Bal Mandir; Rajendra Kumar Shrestha, then secretary of the Kathmandu District Working Committee; Om Krishna Karmaacharya, then president of Lalitpur; Yurikumari Rai, then president of Bhojpur; and Deepak Das Shrestha, then deputy treasurer of the Children’s Organization.

Others charged include Treasurer Prayagraj Shrestha, then president of the Kathmandu District Working Committee Bhagwan Shakya, and then advisor of Lalitpur Ram Krishna Chitrakar.

Among the defendants, Shrestha is accused of receiving dual benefits after being elected to a public position. The others are accused of taking financial assistance from the funds of the Nepal Children’s Organization in violation of the Organization’s Statute, 2049, and financial regulations.
