Gen-G leader Majid Ansari was discharged from Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital on Wednesday.

Ansari, who is studying LLB at Nepal Law Campus, had reached the holding center for squatters in Kirtipur on Saturday to express solidarity with the displaced families. During the incident, the police beat him up and took him into custody. After the incident, the police took Ansari, Sarishma Thapa and Nelson Ghatani into custody. Thapa and Ghatani were released after giving statements that evening, but Ansari had been admitted to the hospital for treatment since Saturday.

Ansari alleged that the police had stayed inside the hospital cabin for a few days during his treatment and only left after legal professionals objected.

Kirtipur Police Circle Chief DSP Shiva Kumar Budhathoki had earlier said that Ansari had been taken into custody on charges of obstructing police work.

Meanwhile, Kathmandu Police Range Spokesperson SSP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai claimed that Ansari had not been arrested. "He was not arrested before, but when he was going to manage the holding zone, there was a scuffle between two parties at the gate, and the police took him to Kirtipur after he was injured while removing him," he told Kantipur. "He said he was injured, then he was sent to Kirtipur Hospital. He said he had a fracture, that's why he was sent to the teaching hospital."
