A decisive meeting between the meter badge victims who took out the Kathmandu March in search of justice and Home Minister Sudhan Gurung is scheduled to take place in Nijgadh, Bara shortly. Home Minister Gurung himself arrived in Nijgadh on Tuesday to hold talks with the victims who are resting at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry building in Nijgadh, Bara.

The victims have already submitted a draft of their six-point demands to Home Minister Gurung for the talks, said Nirga Naveen, coordinator of the United People's Rights Front Nepal, which is participating in the meter badge victims' movement. 'The decisive talks will take place in a few moments. If the talks are not successful, our journey will move forward,' he said, 'We have submitted a draft of our six-point demands to the Home Minister. Now we are waiting for the decisive talks.'

Victims stopped in Nijgadh for two days

Victims started their walk from Janakpur on Ashad 25 and walked towards Kathmandu demanding justice. They have been stopped in Nijgadh for two days. After it was decided to hold talks with Home Minister Gurung in Nijgadh, they postponed their walk and waited for the Home Minister.

​The talks began on Tuesday at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Nijgadh after the victims put forward six demands. After failing to reach an agreement in the discussions held late on Tuesday night, it was decided to hold the talks again from 12 noon on Wednesday. But Home Minister Gurung had gone to visit the temple in Parsa National Park after meeting in Simara and monitoring some areas. Meanwhile, the victims' leaders were engaged in internal discussions.

​They are waiting at the talks venue till evening. The victims, who had set out to seek justice after walking a long distance, have stopped in Nijgadh in the hope that the talks will be successful. They are urging the government to bring the talks to an immediate conclusion and address their demands. Coordinator Navin said that if the talks are successful, preparations are being made to rest the march from here and if they fail, preparations are being made to walk.
