A pedestrian was killed on Thursday morning when an oxygen cylinder exploded in Makkalbari, Gokarneshwar Municipality–4, Kathmandu.
According to police, at around 10:20 am, two fire extinguishers and a small oxygen cylinder in vehicle number Ba Pra 06–001 Jha 0017, driven by 42-year-old Krishna Adhikari of Sindhupalchok Panchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality–4, suddenly exploded.
During the incident, 41-year-old Bishnu Thapa, originally from Baglung and currently residing in Makkalbari, Gokarneshwar–8, was seriously injured while walking.
He was taken to Nepal Medical College, Attarkhel for treatment. However, he died on the way, according to SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of Kathmandu Police Range, Bhadrakali.
Police stated that an investigation is underway as the cause of the incident is yet to be determined.
