Spokesperson Naveen Manandhar issued a statement on Friday, announcing that the executive meeting would decide on providing humanitarian assistance to Nepali's family, arranging employment for family members, and offering free education to his children. The metropolis also expressed deep sorrow over Nepali's death and extended condolences to the bereaved family.
The metropolis has pledged to fully cooperate with the committee formed by the government to investigate Nepali's death and to take necessary corrective and responsible actions based on the recommendations from the investigation. Similarly, the metropolis stated in the release that it would coordinate and collaborate with the government to identify measures to prevent such incidents from recurring and to develop and implement best practices.
After the metropolis police placed a wheel lock on his motorcycle, Nepali attempted self-immolation by pouring petrol on himself on Thursday. Nepali, who was severely injured by burns, died during treatment at Bir Hospital on Friday.
