The Independent Drivers Foundation Nepal has demanded the formation of a high-level, independent, and impartial investigation committee to bring out the facts regarding the death of ride-sharing platform driver Ganesh Nepali. Issuing a statement on Friday, the foundation said that Nepali's death has shocked the entire driver community.

Nepali, from Mugu, who attempted self-immolation by pouring petrol in front of the Department of Passports in Tripureshwar on Thursday, died on Friday morning while undergoing treatment in the burn ward of Bir Hospital.

Citing publicly available information and claims made by various parties, the foundation stated, "While he was riding, the Metropolitan Police put a wheel lock on his motorcycle, and questions have been raised regarding the use of a taser in the subsequent events. It has been reported that after the incident, he attempted self-immolation and sadly passed away during treatment."

Emphasizing the need for an impartial and transparent investigation to make the facts of the incident public, the foundation has demanded strict action against those responsible. The statement reads, "If the investigation confirms negligence, irresponsibility, or illegal actions by any individual or entity, we have a clear demand that impartial and strict action be taken in accordance with prevailing law."

The foundation has requested all drivers and the general public to exercise restraint, not to spread unverified information or rumors, and to seek justice through legal and peaceful means.
