Opposition party UML lawmaker Bhumikha Limbu Subba has said that the government should take responsibility for the death of Ganesh Nepali.
Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Friday, she stated that since he was compelled to resort to self-immolation following issues related to motorcycle parking and fines, the government itself should take responsibility for the incident. Lawmaker Subba accused the government of not being sensitive, responsible, or serious about social conscience.
She also demanded that the government take strict action against those responsible for the incident and immediately arrange appropriate compensation for the victim's family.
“The government must take responsibility for the death of Ganesh Nepali. This is not just the death of an individual. It is also a serious question about the state's sensitivity, responsibility, and social conscience. I strongly demand an investigation into the incident, punishment for those responsible, and relief management for the victim's family,” she said.
Lawmaker Subba also expressed outrage, saying that Prime Minister Balendra Shah is not accountable to parliament.
