Vivek Mandal, who attempted suicide by pouring petrol on himself in Godaita, Sarlahi on Friday, was airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment by a Nepali Army helicopter in the evening.

DSP Bed Prasad Gautam of the District Police Office informed that he was taken to Kathmandu for further treatment. Most parts of Mandal's body were burned by the fire. After the incident, Mandal was taken to the district headquarters, Malangwa, for treatment. DSP Gautam said that an investigation is underway into the reason behind his suicide attempt.
