The Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, has formed a five-member investigation committee led by DIG Thapaliya, including officials from the District Police Range, Kathmandu, and the Valley Crime Investigation Office. An official from the Valley Police said the committee has been instructed to study the events leading up to Nepali's death and submit a report as soon as possible.
On Thursday, Nepali had parked his motorcycle in front of the Department of Passports, and the Metropolitan Police had placed a wheel lock on it. According to police, he poured petrol taken from his motorcycle onto himself and set himself on fire, reportedly in protest of the wheel lock. He was immediately taken to Bir Hospital for treatment, but died during treatment on Friday.
