The protest program of the blind community has been postponed after an agreement was reached with the government.

The protest of the blind community, which has been going on in Maitighar Mandala for the past two weeks, has been postponed after talks were held with the agitating parties at the Ministry of Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security on Tuesday. During the talks, it was agreed that the Ministry of Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security will take forward the resolution process by making necessary coordination with the Ministry of Youth, Labor and Employment, the Ministry of Health and Food Hygiene and the Ministry of Education and Sports to address the demands raised by the blind community. 

The blind community demanded assurance of employment according to skills, qualifications, competence and ability, provision of skill-based training for blind people deprived of the opportunity to read and write, provision of seed capital and marketing, assurance of a livable unemployment allowance for those unable to find employment and self-employment due to age or other reasons, free health care for all blind people and their dependent family members, free availability of assistive devices and assistive technology, effective implementation of 50 percent discount on air and road public transport based on disability identity cards, provision of free general and technical education in private and community schools for children of people with visual disabilities, and provision of soft loans of at least Rs. 1 million in 10-year installments without collateral for those interested in starting a business.
