Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security Sita Badi has conducted an on-site monitoring and inspection of the Children's Reformatory Home in Nuwakot.
During the monitoring, she took information about the housing, education, health services, security arrangements, psychosocial counseling, skill development and overall service delivery of the children in the Children's Reformatory Home and interacted with the children, staff and concerned officials.
During her interaction with the children involved in legal disputes, the Minister expressed the view that children should manage themselves on a provincial basis and should be connected to science and technology, information technology, computers and various skill-based training.
During the inspection, Minister Badi reviewed the needs and challenges seen in the operation of the Children's Reformatory Home and directed the concerned bodies to address issues such as upgrading the road leading to the reformatory home, conducting skill development training, arranging the necessary budget for drug treatment, vehicle maintenance, staff management, establishing a computer lab, operating bank accounts and strengthening the necessary infrastructure on a priority basis.
She stated that the best interests of children, protection of rights, and effective rehabilitation are the top priorities of the government, and that the ministry is committed to taking the necessary coordination and initiatives to make juvenile correctional homes safer, child-friendly, more organized, and more effective.
